I bragged this guy up last year as much as I could. I really think he has the potential to be something special. I remember Midnight Madness Benny's frosh year. Watching soar in with unexpected dunks and people in the crowd thinking, "who's that guy?" Look where he went. I think Kerwin has the potential to be the same.
My old high school basketball coach left to coach BF and had Kerwin. Definitely thinks he may sneak in under people's radar early in his career and explode late.
I'm one of his biggest fans and will cheer extra loudly for him in the McLeod this season.Last edited by jman2004; 11-07-2007, 12:26 PM.

I don't want to jump into the debate on KD's fan club...
But I do think he's going to be a great player at UNI. I was a bit skeptical coming into this season, but I saw him play twice over the weekend and I'm a believer.
That kid knows how to score points. He's gotten A LOT stronger and he can create his own shot with a couple dribbles, his height and elevation on his jump shot. He looks pretty smooth on the offensive end for a freshman.Winning is more fun than losing.

Watching Friday night, I though he looked surprisingly relaxed and confident. If he can consistently shoot well, it'll be a big help through the season. I don't think he looks as strong and quick as Benny J. I haven't seen him handle the ball or defend enough to tell if he's in BJ's class in these areas.

Redshirt freshman/academic sophomore; it's not like he was playing HS ball a year ago. I haven't yet seen that quick, deadly jumpshot off the drive like Benny J had during his career.
Don't get me wrong; I hope he *is* the next B.J.Last edited by in_the_stands; 11-11-2007, 04:26 PM.

Saw the three games - liked what I saw from him. We need him. We would have had a lot of trouble winning three without him. He ended up being a press breaker - good ball handler for who he will be going against.
(We are down two point guards - this seems to be our main weakness. JJ can do it, but needs a rest, esp. when the games come close together. We need him to have his legs for shooting too.)
KD is the real deal. He is worth the scholarship as I see so far. I wondered last year, when he was the only freshman to redshirt, if he just did not have the talent that the others did. He is just like Adam K., young & good already + time for a great career. Let them learn more defense, get stronger, feel their times for shots, and learn to play together. They will play the game right & be fun to watch for several years.

KD will be a great Panther over the next 4 years. He did a good job yesterday against U Mass's pressure defense. You could see him grow more comfortable having to handle the ball as the 2nd half went on. It was a good test for our young Panthers. It was also clear that Koch feels much more comfortable handling the ball on the press breaker.
I am also impressed with KD's shooting mechanics. He squares his shoulders to the hoop nearly every time and therefore has good rotation on the ball.
