the tv announcers were really dogging the crowd tonight. they repeatedly mentioned that it was not loud at all...was this just a result of Iowa shooting well from outside all night or what? or does it just not get as loud as the dome?

Re: Crowd?
I only went to two other games in the McLeod center before tonight. The Bradley and Southern Illinois games last year, and both times the crowd was MUCH more into it.
I think it was the style of play. Boring, half court slow tempo stuff. I think the last 3 minutes when UNI was forcing all those turnovers the crowd was much more responsive. I never sat for the last 4 minutes.
But, to answer your question, in my opinion, it's been much louder in there.

Re: Crowd?
I wouldnt say that it was quiet, but I was dissapointed at times when the crowd did not rise up and get really loud when the team needed it. It was like they forgot how cheer and be loud at the right times for b-ball games...UNI FIGHT

Re: Crowd?
The band needs to stop playing the fight song 30 times in a game. It seems like every time there is a big play they play the song and the crowd dies off after that. I think the crowd would respond to the fight song a lot better if it wasn't played 30 times.

Re: Crowd?
Amen - I believe they twice drown out a U-N-I cheer from the Jungle. And PLEASE DON'T PLAY THE FIGHT SONG AFTER WE LOSE!!!!Originally posted by krusej23 View PostThe band needs to stop playing the fight song 30 times in a game. It's about time we make the McLeod LOUD!

Re: Crowd?
I stood up once and cheered with 3 minutes to go, on the defensive end, only to be greeted by murmurs coming from behind me. Of course, by people that I haven't even seen at a game this season yet, and I've sat in my seats 5 times now. I thought the students did a good job, but the rest of the place was very lackluster and uninvolved. I was disappointed.

Re: Crowd?
What I love is the corporate seats next to me that are never used, are suddenly filled with Iowa fans. Gotta love seeing all those premimum seats at the McLeod being filled by Iowa fans.
Hope someone in the AD wakes up and revokes a bunch of tickets next year.If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

Re: Crowd?
Playing the fight song after a game (win or lose) has been going on way before I went to UNI and after I graduated from there. I may be wrong but I believe that IT'S A TRADITION!Originally posted by TommyT View PostAnd PLEASE DON'T PLAY THE FIGHT SONG AFTER WE LOSE!!!!
I hope it continues to happen everytime. It shows that no matter what the outcome of the game, we will still keep cheering on our team, win or lose. I know it sucks to lose but if you are a true Panther fan, then you will cheer on your team no matter what, even when they lose. You don't have to be all gung ho about it but show some respect to the team even if they lost. If you don't like it, then get off the band wagon and cheer for someone else."If you want to bet against this UNI football team, go ahead. But, I'd be very careful."

Re: Crowd?
A 9 year old boy whose father I believe is the finance person at one of the W'loo/CF car dealerships was dressed in a UNI basketball jersey & UNI sweatpants but was cheering for the Hawks. When I asked why he was cheering for Iowa he answered "I have to wear this stuff, we get these tickets for free, Go Hawks".
Now they have been to most of the games in McLeod the last two years supporting UNI, but last night really annoyed me."This program is the most important thing. It was here before we were here, and it will be here after we leave. Right now, we represent this program and this university. We represent the community, we represent the state, and we will do everything that we can to put UNI football at the level we're proud of and always have been at this university. When I'm talking about this program, I'm talking about alumni. This place is important to them, just as it is to me." - Mark Farley, Football Coach

Re: Crowd?
There is NO excuse for letting those kind of people in the games. If we are comping these tickets for people, then it isn't a lot to expect them to cheer us on.Originally posted by UNIFITE View PostA 9 year old boy whose father I believe is the finance person at one of the W'loo/CF car dealerships was dressed in a UNI basketball jersey & UNI sweatpants but was cheering for the Hawks. Re: Crowd?
I saw that as well, I had hoped that the kid was just cheering for both teams to score, but apparently not. They do attend nearly every game, which makes it even more bizarre.Originally posted by UNIFITE View PostA 9 year old boy whose father I believe is the finance person at one of the W'loo/CF car dealerships was dressed in a UNI basketball jersey & UNI sweatpants but was cheering for the Hawks. Looking around at the crowd, you saw 2/3 in Panther gear, then about a 100 fans in Hawk gear, and all the rest in non-fan clothes cheering for the Hawks.

Re: Crowd?
That has nothing to do with money. The building is built. Use the friggin seats or give them up. I am sick of looking at empty seats for all games except Iowa games. The AD has the ability to track ticket usage and they should begin revoking these tickets and get them to Panther fans who will use them.Originally posted by JD720 View PostExactly, it's not like we need the money or anything.
