  • UNI vs. SIU

First of all, the UNI posters on Valley Talk...please don't lip off to the SIU fans before we play them. It just adds fuel to a very flammable fire.

Secondly, there are a few SIU fans out there who feel that UNI just played awesome against the Dawgs to beat them in the Dome. Well, let's remember, that wasn't the case.

UNI only shot 41.8% from the field.
UNI only shot 71.4% from the FT line.
    UNI only made 6 3-pointers.
Coleman was 0-6 from the field.
McKowen, Foster, and Little combined for only 4 assists.
And...UNI turned it over 14 times.

Since the SIU game, the Panthers have shot the ball much better. They have taken care of the ball better, and Coleman/McKowen is playing so much better. They are expecting a sell out at 'The Arena', and the Panthers need to keep playing much better ball. Keep it going guys! You can snap SIU's home winning streak!

The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

YOU ALL NEED TO KNOW THIS!!!

Wednesday, Feb. 23 -- UNI at Southern Illinois, 7 p.m.
LIVE: *FSN Midwest; Fox College Sports; TAPED: Comcast Chicago (F24, 1 a.m. CST); MetroSports (KC) (F24, 4 p.m. CST) *not available in Kansas and Indiana

So, if you don't have FSN Midwest, you will not be watching the UNI game live. You CFU subscribers without FSN Midwest will need to invade Peppers or your friends house with Mediacom to watch this game.

Also, B.True, you won't be able to watch the game in Indiana. That really blows!

    In addition:
Prior to games on Feb. 22, Feb. 23, and Feb. 28, the Valley will debut a 30-minute pre-game show -- the Marshall Wireless Pre-Game Show. The program will feature interviews and vignettes concerning the conference and its postseason tournaments.
    Tues., Feb. 22 -- Pre-Game Show, 6:30 p.m. CST
    Wed., Feb. 23 -- Pre-Game Show, 6:30 p.m. CST
    Mon., Feb. 28 -- Pre-Game Show, 5:30 p.m. CST
LIVE: FSN Midwest; Fox College Sports

      Cfu

i have a buddy that works at CFU and he sent me a memo regarding the UNI BBall game on Wednesday. It WILL be shown live on CFU cable networks, on channel 73. It will be available to all CFU cable TV customers. Also, the game on Saturday vs. Bradley will be on live on the HD channel HD Net, channel 448. HDTV setup boxes are available for rent from CFU.

So, no need to panic...The Wichita game I believe will also be televised, but I haven't heard any word on what channel.
      Go Panthers!

The Wichita game will be live on Comcast Chicago. Great to hear about CFU stepping to the plate.

Great quote to add fuel to the fire:

"So many people are putting so much pressure on him, saying he's going to start right away, he's going to do this right away, Freshman of the Year, all that," the head coach (Chris Lowery) said in October. "I'll tell you this much, if he's Freshman of the Year, that means we're not very successful. Freshman of the Year usually means they are playing a lot for a bad team. Not always, but a lot of the time.

So maybe since we have Eric Coleman as the front runner for FOY, we are a bad team?! Quote board!

Boy, SIU seems to make quite a few stupid comments like that... what's their deal?

              Focus....

I hope the SIU coaches and players are focusing on the FOY and POY awards and not UNI tomorrow night. Does SIU think they have a bid sewed up? Will they play like Utah did last night after locking the #1 seed for their conference tourney down Saturday night? I would normally say, "no way", but with comments like that...it makes me wonder.

Either way Panthers, just go down to Carbondale and play your game! Be strong and have fun and the March to the Dance starts Wednesday!

              Go Panthers!!!

PTTB - Can this please make it to a bulletin board???

As posted at USA Today by SIU player LaMar Owen...sounds like SIU doesn't lose at home.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "We don't lose at home. We don't let anybody come into our house and win. These next two wins will clinch the MVC for us." — LaMar Owen on the Salukis' next two home games, against Northern Iowa and Wichita State.

Since when is 41.8% shooting from the field and 71.4% free throw shooting not a good game shooting the ball? Also, how many 3-pointers do you guys think you should be making, 15??? I think those stats you dished out above would be an above average game for you guys, especially if you could get those same stats on the road...just my opinion...

                      Wonka...

Do some research...UNI is shooting over 50% from the floor for the year...so 41.8% is a down night for them. I would take 72% from the FT line, but I think UNI shot 78% from the stripe last Saturday...so they can shoot better.

The key for tonight...REBOUNDING and the Sam Banks factor. If he's in the house...UNI Loses because SIU will shoot double the free throws of UNI! It's unfortunate, but true.
