Re: Where is Coleman now?
Eric signed a pro contract to play with Polpharma Starogard Gdanski of the DBE, which is the top pro league in Poland. They finished last in the 13 team league last year.

Re: Where is Coleman now?
It's tax free, for one. I think it varies, but they are usually 10 month contracts. I wish the US would go to no income tax!
Tax on spending, not productivity!
Ha!
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

Re: Where is Coleman now?
To expand on the above posts - most US basketball players (if they follow the laws) don't meet the requirements to escape US taxation - since most of them do not meet a foreign residency requirement. Therefore, most of the time, all of their earnings in the other country is taxed over here. Any taxes they pay in the other country, they get to take a credit for on their US tax return. Also, in many of the countries US basketball players play, they have an agreement with the US to pay taxes into the US social security system as if they were earning it over here (but at Coleman's age, he will never get to collect social security when he retires anyway).

Re: Where is Coleman now?
Having some insight into this ordeal, the pay varies WIDELY from around 20K Euros to 120K Euors. And the reason many players report not paying taxes is because the players do not, the teams will often include contract clauses in which the Team will cover the taxes required by the player's home country.
And yes lodging, travel, and "food" are covered for the player, but if he has a wife or child, they have to split the stipend with the whole family and pay the rest out of pocket.
It's still a pretty sweet deal in my opinion.
Hey Trump, they do have a pro-football teams popping up around Europe now, even on in Gottengen, where Benny plays. Ya know in case that whole physician thing doesn't pan out
Just wanted to chip in once while im in FL.

Re: Where is Coleman now?
i had a friend play at a high level overseas for many years. he made between 150-350k each year, plus expenses. it wasnt technically tax-free, but they essentially structured it so the foriegn team paid his US taxes.
