  • Proud to be a Panther Tonight!!!!

That was a heck of a game! Great gameplan by McDermott and pretty good execution by the players.

I'm proud to be an alumni tonight!!! The team did the PantherNation proud!!!

    Great exposure!

The announcers were very complimentary to the Panthers, although I think they referred to us once as Northern Illinois early on. This is great experience for Stout and Coleman, Jake and Eric now have two tourney under their belt. The nation got to see the Panthers as a tough team that doesn't give up. This sets us up nicely for next year. If we don't win one or two games in the NCAA next year I think it will be disapointing.

Proud to be a Panther. Maybe now we can get some more alumni to jump on the bandwagon for next year. We need your support in the Athletic Club. See my post in the Panther Lounge.

Great season UNI - Here's to a better one next year!
If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

      I'm proud of our effort

We had a chance to win late, but two untimely and uncharacteristic TOs hurt. Couple that with some missed shots in the paint and some missed FTs and that pretty much sums it up.

I think Coach said something last year to the effect that:

"We're not into moral victories, but we are into playing hard, and I think we did that."

I think that goes for tonight as well.

Next year looks promising. I wonder if UW would be willing to schedule us next year after tonight?

Am I the only one who's disappointed? Don't get me wrong, great effort, great gameplan. It was a very disappointing loss, I feel UNI did everything they could and that's why it hurts even more. I am very proud of the guys and Coach Mac but man we couldn't get the shots to fall and that was a painful loss. Our gameplan was awesome, they only took the shots we gave them and somehow they hit them. We had good looks that were in and out all night long.

Sorry I'm rambling but I'm a tad shell shocked.

I'm disappointed as well, but I have got to really give props to Coach Mac and the players on the team for creating a program this quickly that would make me feel disappointed.

i'm dissapointed but i'm also a cubs fan and i think that the program will continue to grow and get better. i have to say that it was great to see foster in the starting lineup last night...we all know he's been through so much and to start an NCAA tournament game has to be a great highlight....

i'm not that dissapointed with the panthers' play, while they didn't shoot the ball well from deep, wisconsin didn't give us many open looks....at least i thought we had to grind out every open look we had......the badgers just played really well....

but, i was dissapointed this morning when i saw that bucknell upset KU....an 11 versus a 14 going for a sweet 16 spot would've made for great TV on sunday afternoon.....

baby steps....next year will have a different ending.....

Bucknell is one of Iowa State's creme puff pre-season teams. I really can't believe they beat KU.

Initially Disappointed...but Feel Much Better Now!

I finally had a chance to watch the tape of the Wisc game last night. I was at the game (the Cat fans did have great seats!) and was initially disappointed with the outcome. I thought we should have won and I felt like we did not play as well down the stretch.

I still truely believe that we should have won but I feel much better about the play of the Panthers - especially in the 2nd half - and the game plan that Coach Mac had in place. Our inside guys held their own throughout the game. Althougth we still made a couple of unforced errors in the end and needed to have a couple more shots drop, we played well and showed well to a national audience! I thought that C. Fosters TO at the end was unforced...but watching the replay he was bumped by the Wisc player which threw him and his dribble off.

We have a bright future ahead! Look forward to the basketball banquet!
