      A little more...

The 6-8, 220-pound Raffington played at Urspring School in Schelklingen, Germany, and was a teammate of current Panther Vince Polakovic from 2002-04. In 2002, Raffington was selected as one of the top five players at the Dirk Nowitzki Basketball Academy. He averaged 13 points and nine rebounds per game as a member of the German U20 national team this past summer.

Stewart, a 6-2, 175-pound combo guard, averaged 19.2 points per game as a junior for Waubonsie Valley High School. He reached double-figures in scoring in 28 of 30 games, with a season high of 30, while shooting 44 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range. He was a unanimous all-conference selection both his sophomore and junior seasons, and an honorable mention all-area pick as a junior by the Chicago Sun-Times.

Brown averaged 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists last season for Richfield High School. The 6-3, 175-pound shooting guard helped lead the Spartans to a 21-5 record and a conference co-championship in 2003-04. He was also a member of the Howard Pulley AAU team that produced current Panthers Erik Crawford and Eric Coleman.

For those that have seen him play...

What does Dylan Grimsley bring to the table? I'm looking forward to watching how he fits in with Coleman and Stout, but I have no idea what he brings to the table as far as skills go. Any thoughts?

I saw Grimsley play three times in high school, and my impressions were as follows:

1st game, Dylan's sophomore year: Sub-state game vs. Spencer @ Buena Vista Fieldhouse:
Dylan was a beast in this game and really played a lot of this game in the post with his back to the basket. I remember thinking back then, "Wow, this kid is gonna be a beast in the next couple years." He seemed really big and had some good post moves. He also threw down a couple of big dunks on us. However, most of the reason he looked so good was that he had Nate Funk on his team and Funk was nearly unstoppable in high school and that created a lot of open looks for Dylan.
P.S.- Heelan took us to the woodshed that game and it wasn't fun.

2nd game, Dylan's sophomore year: State 3A championship game vs. Sioux City East @ Des Moines in the barn:
I don't exactly remember Dylan doing a whole lot in this game and I don't think he really did. Had a couple of dunks but that is all I remember. Sioux City East (led by Ben Jacobson ) really shut him and Nate Funk down.

3rd game, Dylan's senior year: Sub-state game vs. Spencer @ Buena Vista Fieldhouse:
After not seeing Grimsley play for two years I hardly recognized him, he seemed a lot smaller and he played from a guard/wing position nearly the whole game. He did show much improved ball handling skills and three point shooting ability and frankly was a threat to score at any time. He was however not having a very good shooting night and the Tigers led by incoming UNI commitment for next year Brian Haak (Haak had like 20-30 points including a near half court shot at the half) upset Heelan in what was probably the best basketball game I have ever been to...period.

^ So how is that for a reply, I mananged somehow to make mention of Dylan Grimsley, Nate Funk, Ben Jacobson, and Brian Haak all in one post!

I think you are a little confused in that 3A championship game as Sioux City East is a 4A school and played Waterloo East in the championship that year. Just trying to get your story straight....
