I thought I would check in to see how the Blue Jays were handling a loss to Drake and I'm happy to report "not very well."
Surprisingly they are giving UNI their due for the first half of the Valley season. I find it interesting that they handle the perceived lack of success the same as we do in Panther Nation. They are posting as many people did when UNI was struggling a bit early in the season.
As I've always thought, the Blue Jay fan base has been inflicted with the same mental disease as the rest of the nation with cable television. I call it "ESPNism." Definition: "An affliction that attacks normally sane and reasonable people, that when viewing a loss of their favorite team turn into irrational and totally absurb individuals." "Others have referred to the same disease as the Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde syndrome." Symptoms are brought on by watching too many games on ESPN after which the viewing individual thinks of themself as a knowledgable game strategist, proficient recruiter, and analyst without ever leaving the comfort of their living room.
Characteristics of those most infected: Wearing of replica jerseys, professing to being a true fan of said institution without contributing to athletic scholarship club, usually not having a diploma of the college in question."
Unfortunately no known cure has been found for ESPNism. It should be noted that the disease has been known to recycle and reappear during other seasons of the year and thus not limited to only the basketball season.
