  • Jordan most hyped UNI recruit ever?

I openly admit being an active panther fan for only a few years so I was wondering if some of you "old timers" can remember a more hyped and lauded basketball recruit, or any athlete in any sport for that matter, that got more press and water cooler convos going then Big Jordan (someone should trademark that). If colleges had franchise players Jordan seems to be it in the minds of many Panther fans on this board and throughout Pantherland. This is not to diminish the significance of any other recruits, but lets face it Jordan is stirring up a ton of excitement (and is always high on national/regional scouting rankings).

Oh, and by using the term hyped I do not infer believing the big fella is over rated, but simply stating that he has gotten a ton of press for a future Panther and generated a super massive level of excitement in our ever expanding fan base.

    I don't think...

...there has been all that much hype about Jordan yet. The Waterloo Courier ran one large article about him last year and the Register hasn't devoted much space to him at all. Part of the reason for that is his team hasn't been successful at the state tournament level, but this could be the year for them and then he will get much more state-wide recognition. Outside of those of us who are close to the basketball program and the PN crowd, not that many people are familiar with him yet.

Granted his team didn't make state last year, but he did play in the state tourney his sophomore year I believe.
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

I would have to say Brooks McKowen was the most hyped recruit ever. He was getting pub in every paper possible. He broke the state scoring record and also won Mr. Basketball. His name was everywhere that year.

I've talked to a few folks who have seen Jordan play and they think he's the real deal. Big kid, good around the basket, can shoot the jumper and has a 7 ft 8 in. wingspan.

My in-laws have a cabin in Bellevue and my father-in-law saw him in the grocery store this past weekend and said rather sarcastically, "He's not that big" And then asked, "He's going to UNI?" (he's a Hawkeye fan)
