    Re: UNI is Ranked....

Do we have a better chance of playing closer to home with a higher seed?

I'd like to see us in Oklahoma City (11 hours straight down I-35) or Milwaukee ( a little under 5 hours)

i believe the top 4 seeds in each region are "protected" in so much as they try to minimize their travel.

That would be correct, which is why Purdue and UNI were sent to Portland last year as Washington drew the 4 seed.

Something else to watch is how many teams in the midwest will be pushing for top 4 seeds. Wisconsin, Michigan State, Purdue could all be looking at Milwaukee. Kansas, Kansas State could have claims towards Oklahoma City. We could still be bumped away from the midwest even if we can get to a 4 seed.

I think we can win out and get to a 4 seed or better, but I think it is more likely we wind up as a 5 or 6 and we could go anywhere.

Kentucky might be in the running for Milwaukee also. That is the closest site to them with Buffalo being 50 more miles and New Orleans being about 250 more miles.

I looked at the last 8-10 years and the highest seed a team outside of the Big 6, Gonzaga, Memphis, and the A-10 has been able to get is SIU with a 4 seed in 2007. They had a RPI of 7 that year. I just don't see a seed better than a 4 seed and a 4/5 seed will almost guarantee being sent to either Spokane or San Jose (Trapped will like that). If we get a 6 seed I think the 2 most likely places are New Orleans or Jacksonville. A 7-9 seed will put the other 4 sites as the most likely.

That's fine. We will still show up on ESPN daily.

The AP poll appears to be much more reactive.

That is great news. Now, we've got to win.
