I cannot think of anyone that I enjoyed watching more. As a 33 year old married successful male who has a good life and enjoys slowpitch, fishing, and beer it feels a little weird to think so highly of some 21-22 year old kid but he has worked his ass off and he is one hell of a player. If you don't look at raw stats and just watch a lot of college hoops, he might be the best shooter in the country.

Re: Ali might be my favorite player of all time
I agree I love watching Ali play too, however just about everyone one on the team. They might not be the most athletic team however, that can be made up with hustle, good defense, shooting, and an overall basketball IQ.

I agree totally. He is one of my favorite Panthers of all time. Guy is awesome, and absolutely deadly from 3 land. He has such a pure shot, and such a quick release. And most importantly, he is fearless.
I wish we had him for more than just these last two years. He has absolutely maximized his ability and potential.UNI FIGHT

Re: Ali might be my favorite player of all time
Is it safe to say he is the key to our teams ultimate success in the tourny(s)?
I mean when he is shooting lights out we are one of the best teams in the nation, and it is almost contagious to the rest of the team.

Re: Ali might be my favorite player of all time
When UNI first signed Ali, I reacted with a shrug and a smirk. Hmmmm...I wonder why we spent a scholly on an undersized guard from Iowa who played a couple years of JC ball?
I'm guessing I wasn't alone in that reaction.
Look at what he's done now.
A good lesson for the next time coach signs someone who doesn't look the part.Winning is more fun than losing.

Re: Ali might be my favorite player of all time
If I were ODU trying to get back in the game with 1 minute left, I would have had three guys deny Ali and let someone else catch the inbounds. Because fouling Ali is the same as putting 2 points on the board. Ball doesn't even touch the rim on his FTs.Winning is more fun than losing.

Re: Ali might be my favorite player of all time
Remember that Ali was a JC All-American. I wasn't worried with the signing at all. Jake knows the type of kids that he wants on the team, even if they are just practice bodies. Awesome game last night by everyone. Go Panthers!!!Originally posted by Blue42 View PostWhen UNI first signed Ali, I reacted with a shrug and a smirk. A good lesson for the next time coach signs someone who doesn't look the part.Coach Whisenhunt 1/18/09. "There was never any complaints about not being named the starter, all he wanted was an opportunity and he took advantage of it. Kurt is probably one of the greatest individuals you'll ever meet. Kurt worked hard on a lot of things that a lot of times older quarterbacks aren't willing to do. That's a credit to his humility and his competitive drive, and the reason that we are here today in great part is what Kurt Warner has done for us."

The ball doesn't even touch the rim on his three-pointers either!Originally posted by Blue42 View PostIf I were ODU trying to get back in the game with 1 minute left, I would have had three guys deny Ali and let someone else catch the inbounds.
