. . . HYPOTHETICALLY:
We beat Michigan State and head into the Elite Eight to face either Ohio State or Tennessee. We will be one of only 8 teams out of 320+ in the country still vying for a National Championship. Our odds of winning a National Championship are 1 out of freaking 8!
Our record on the season will be 31-4 and our RPI heading into Big Dance was hovering around 17. Our SOS was something around 112 but considering our wins over UNLV, Kansas, and HYPOTHETICALLY Michigan State, that number would be likely to increase drastically. Same with our RPI.
Is it safe to say that we are legitimately one of the 10 best teams in the entire country? To some, maybe this is obvious (YES!) but to others, that question will remain about whether "Cinderellas" like us are merely flukes.
But heck, our resume at this point in time looks comparable to a team like Butler's who hovered near the top 10 of both polls all season long and considerably better than a team like Gonzaga's who also hung around the top 10 all season long. Personally, I think we could stomp all over the likes of Butler and Gonzaga . . .
Do they come out with final polls at the end of the season? Are RPI's updated? I guess I haven't really ever paid attention enough to know.
I guess I'm just so glad for the guys that they got the opportunity to play Kansas and show their stuff, because it confirmed what many of us have probably thought from time to time this season . . . We're damn good! Not just that, but possibly one of the best 10 teams in the entire country! While you can't simply use the Sweet 16 teams and Elite 8 teams to form this opinion (because Washington is not one of the top 10 teams in the country) I do feel this time it may be warranted should we get past Michigan State.
Just step back for a moment and revel in the thought of that . . . wins over those two storied programs.
Just rambling . . . GO CATS!
