  • Grimsley has left team??

In tonight's Courier it was reported that Dylan Grimsley has left the Men's basketball team for personal reasons.

It also said that Erik Crawford has a stress fracture and will be sidelined 7-10 days.

Not a real good start to the BB season...that starts this Friday night!!

I wish him the best of luck. Sometimes kids just have to make decisions about what is bets for them.

This makes our thin front court even thinner. Any ideas on how the team is going to approach this? it is alot like last year, but it would be nice to have some depth to give Stout and Coleman some decent breathers. Anybody know how Santos has developed from last year to this year?

Dylan has a history of Leaving

Dylan is a good kid, but he has a very strong history of leaving for home. I hope the best for him but unfortunately he will probably end up playing for Morningside and Briar Cliff. Which is a total waste of his talents. But I think the Panthers will overcome, with EP joining EC and Grant we will have the size to battle down low all season.

Atila Santos=bench pressed 330lbs last week (set the school weight lifting record for basketball)
Atila Santos=vertical jump of 36 inches
Atila Santos=THE bench for UNI posts

We have two all-conference performers in the post, most teams don't have that. Atila will do a good job coming off the bench. My guess is that there will be another walkon added in the next few weeks.

          Does anybody know...

...what the "personal reasons" are for Grimsley leaving? I realize he left North Carolina-Wilmington after a brief time there but he just became eligible at UNI and would have seen considerable playing time backing up the front line players this season. Who has the scoop?

Grimsley had to discontinue his basketball career due to a kidney ailment. Its too bad. I hope he gets healthy.

Yes, best of wishes to Dylan. From what I have heard/experienced, he has always been a class act and a great person. It's too bad his health has prevented him from being in college what he was in high school. He was Sioux City's all-time leading scorer, and would have been a fantastic college player. Best of wishes as you pursue your degree at UNI!
