  • Jake Koch

I am starting this thread in hopes to find out what others think about where and how Jake can fit into this offense.

I am a huge Jake Koch fan (needless to say who isn't). It just seems like to me we can't have him scoring most of his points off of the three. He is to tall. I would like to see him shoot the 5-10 footer more. Maybe get some action inside?

What is up and how can his enormous talent be better used?

It's been said before but Jake isn't a true post player.

Remember Adam wasn't a real post presence until later into his JR year and into his SR year.

is he really an enormous talent? seems fairly one dimensional to me, and doesnt have near the athleticism of adam.

          He's only a sophomore.

Give him time to develop some more. He will become more comfortable down low eventually, and will continue to stretch defenses by hitting 3s.

Remember how much better Adam got from his sophomore year to his junior year?

fair enough, but adam had the ball handling and quickness to be an effective wing player. he also had the ability to hang in the air around the rim and make some fantastic shots. jake will have to develop a more traditional post game.

You really are forgetting how lost Adam appeared at times his first two years on the court.

His game is getting better each game. He likes the perimeter, but he did manage 8 rebounds last night too. I' d like to see him keep the ball up higher when he drives. He seems to bring it down and then allows it to get blocked more easily.. I better stop while I am ahead..he knows my id on here..

I like his versatility from the perimeter to the 3-point line on offense. I don't know if he has the skill set or the size to ever be a true post player. I don't think we can count on a true post presence for easy buckets this year, unless it's O'Rear getting putbacks, and even then he is undersized. Pehl is a big body who can set some rebounds and maybe get some cheap baskets, but isn't the scoring threat that Eglseder was. I trust that our coaching staff will be able to adjust accordingly and keep on developing our talent.

seems like a great kid. Also seems like he is respected and encouraging to his teammates. The way he played in the MVC tourney and NCAA last year was awesome. I forget sometimes that he is only a soph. 8 rebounds last night is good. His defensive is solid as well. Definitely a player I want to be a panther. Probably my favorite player from a fans perspective.

He played the entire second half after dislocating his little finger. I was impressed.

Jordan didn't have much of an offensive game his freshman, sophomore, or part of his junior year either.

Pehl has an upside that I'm shocked a lot of people have saw yet. Yes, he is raw but his build and attitude will more than make up for that. By the time he is a senior he will be very good for us.

TV camera did a great job showing the finger. Followed him off the floor showing his finger to the bench. Not THE finger, but, the finger that was injured.

Personally I am impressed with his play right now. I am just waiting for him to go off for a huge game.

Remember we have him for 3 more years (well 2.8 years) I think he is far ahead of where Adam was at this point, we could have something special.
