First MAC opponent offically announced

According to today's Courier, it's offically going to be UW-Milwaukee, the first game of a home-and-home 2 year series.

Apparently Hartzell wanted a major name program, along the lines of Michigan State, while coach wanted someone more 'like us,' and Hartzell felt abliged to give Mac his wish.

Personally, I'm not afraid of playing a team like Michigan State at home in a game like that, but I see the logic in playing a more beatable opponent.

That game will cap a busy week, including women's basketball, possibly wrestling vs. Iowa and a possible home Volleyball match. It'd be nice to get a concert or something else in there that first week to really show off the new digs.

I dont think Mac wanted a more "more beatable team" Mac wanted a solid midwest program that would take the game seriously and start a series with UNI. UW-Mil is a great "Mid-Major" school just like UNI and I think its an honor to open the MAC with them. They are a quality program and it will be a very tough game still. Although the Panthers vs the Panthers will be very interesting

This game will get more than enough exposure, especially if these two programs do very well again this year. UW-Milwaukee (much like UNI) is on its way to becoming media darlings, who are looking for the next Gonzagas. I'm very excited to get a school with name recognition like UW-Milwaukee.

I wish it was Miami of Ohio since they are so close to me and because of their coach's whining about them getting left out of the NCAAs while UNI was selected.

My apologies NIB I put in quotes to try to explain my disdain for the term, but I wasnt sure if many other people had heard of UW-Mil so I wanted a reference for them. I will not use the term again. I swear.
