I, honestly think that we need to, next recruiting cycle, get a tall guy.

This isn't a "the sky is falling" type of plee, it just seems that we have no inside presence and if our perimeter game is off, we will just flat out be uncompetetive that game without some inside options.

JE wouldn't have changed the outcome of this game one bit. He would have started, tripped, stumbled, let a ball go off his foot, then been sat, replay process at the start of the second half. UNI can not get a 7 footer that is worth a crap because if they are worth a crap they are at Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan State, etc... We need athletes and a group of kids to show up and at least act like they care.

We don't need a 7 foot goon, it is over rated unless you get a good one. We need a 6'9" "athlete."

No, we need someone that understands that you can shoot the ball inside the three point line.

Iowa has 4 Div 1 JUCO teams in the state. Some of them have a few guys around 6'7 that can do some serious damage. UNI needs to take some chances of a couple of them every year. Don't need 6 generic jump shooters on UNI's bench every year.

They don't have the athletic ability to get an open shot that close, that is the problem.

Wrong, wrong and wrong. This team is screaming for inside height. A 6'10 - 6'11 guy is exactly what we need. (Jeg, I think we were having this same argument last year). You can't win outside the conference with a 6'6" center (no offense to Jason Reese, David Gruber and Eric Coleman) on a consistant basis.

Every team has an athletic 6'7-6'9" guy. Sometimes they play center, sometimes power forward. What teams in our league generally don't have is a decent big (6'10 - 7 ft) guy. Even if he is a slug, he'll be able to block 1-2 shots a game and alter at least double that. I see UNI sliding back to the days when we didn't have a good inside game and relying on our guards to throw up all of our shots from outside 15 feet = recipe for disaster.
It's about time we make the McLeod LOUD!

I believe we only have one scholly to offer for 2012 and I don't know what Jake plans on doing with it but it seems to me that we need a center/forward.

                      2009: Morrison/sonnen
                      2010: Buss/Rank/Martio
2011: Deon Mitchell/Jevon Lyle/Bohannon/Seth Tuttle/Marvin Singleton---Tuttle might be a post..but from what I've heard he will be more of a Jake Koch type

It seems that we will continue to be stacked at guard and thin at post for the next few years. Obviously this is Jake's decision but if I was playing Dynasty mode on a college basketball video game..I would make damn sure I got a post for 2012.

                        Koch 6'9
                        Rank 6'6
                        Singleton 6'6
                        Tuttle 6'8
                        Buss 6'8

We will be fine. We are not going to get many 7 footers. But we will be in good shape as Koch and Rank mature, and we bring in the young guys from what everyone expects to be a great class next year.

what Jeg said. Also, Pehl needs to play much more. If even as a defensive interior presence. KA also forces way too many shots. Moran is too short to get a shot off.

For some reason I thought Martino was a preferred walk-on?

I agree that a solid athletic 6'10" - 7' is not that realistic. Remember, Eggs was a project that we gambled with when he was a Freshman in HS, not many of them out there or many that will bite at an offer as a HS underclassman. So it would seem to me that we need the second coming of Eric Coleman ........ sign me up
