  • Goal for the rest of the season

Miss fewer lay-ups than we miss free throws. Do that and I bet we are amazed at the won-loss record we get from it.

Sometimes it really is that simple, isn't it?

Interesting (and frustrating) to think that so far we've lost to the two best teams in the league by a combined 6 points, but also lost to Bradley by double digits.

I mentioned it before in a different thread, but I'm actually pretty happy with the victory last night even if it was ugly offensively. Even with good shot selection getting the ball in the basket can be an inconsistent factor (even the best offensive teams usually only shoot around 50% from the field), but defense and to a lesser extent rebounding are factors that should always be consistent. If we can get back to being the great defensive team we were at the start of the season I like our chances to keep on playing better and maybe make a run. The offense will come around eventually, it starts with defense.

The defensive rebounding really needs to improve. We have been giving up WAY too many 2nd and 3rd chance baskets lately.

Something that hasn't been mentioned. We played very unselfishly this game. There were several shots that were open that we would have taken during the last 10-15 games. Today we were willing to pass out for the better shot. The defense of old made an appearance. These were what made the non conference successful.

Now, if we could make free throws.... and get some defensive rebounds it would be a very exciting way to enter St. Lou!

Make the dance. Doesn't matter how we get there. Just. Do. It.

Not that our goals shouldn't be higher, but our chances of avoiding thursday got a huge boost tonight. We stole one and Eville lost to SIU. They've got CU twice, MSU, and @Drake in addition to us
