  • Best bar/restaurant in Ames?

What would be the best place to get a beer and supper prior to the UNI-ISU BB game? Should be rolling in around 5. Is there a PN get-together?

If you want to stick close to campus, Welch Ave. Station is a great sports bar, and you can order from Pizza Pit, which is up above. For a restaurant, Hickory Park can't be beat! It is just north of 30, off of the Airport exit. (can't remember the official exit name)

We went to Old Chicago a few weeks ago and it was tremendous. TV's everywhere and they'll change them to whatever you want to watch. The only problem was the heartburn I got from eating too much.

Hickory Park is the place that EVERYONE goes to. If you eat there, prepare to wait. But if you get in at 5, it might not be too bad. You will be amazed at how fast you are served, especially with as many people as they seat.

Hickory Park is really, really good stuff. It's worth the wait in my opinion.

Also, Valentino's is good. Located behind North Grand Mall.

I think the exit is Duff.

Depends what you are in the mood for at the time.

                    Hickory Park: bbq
                    Old Chicago: pizza/pasta
                    Legends: Sports bar/American food.
                    Wallaby's: Sports bar/American food

Yes, you are right. Have I been out of Ames that long? Anyway, that is my vote--they are good about getting people in, even with a crowd.

As far as I'm concerned Ames has only two redeeming qualities - Hickory Park and AmesPanther.

Should we post this as a poll?
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

No, because that makes it seem like Ames is important, and it and all its inhabitants are not
