I came across this while surfing ESPN.com just now.

I think you will all like #38 just as much as I did.

not only a spot in the countdown, but also a mention in the intro. kaboom!
To pick the best ever is almost as difficult as sinking Ali Farokhmanesh's dagger or Bryce Drew's hook-and-ladder, but you know the best when you see them. They are the moments that last. That shine, if you will.

#38 is #1 in my heart.

That said, how is Magic/Bird only #4?? That made the tournament what it is today. Made it a television event...

What is this, football? Mentioning "Pacer" is just fine and has been since '98.

As a Valpo alumnus and UNI fan, it is fun to see both plays mentioned in the intro. Great stuff.

#74...ugh. That one hurt as an MVC fan and someone who supported ( I use that term liberally) Drake having grown up in the area.

As did #64. Not that I was a Hawk fan but I will rarely come up with a good reason for not supporting an in-state team in those situations. That was one incredible shot though

#45 got me thinking...we need a Jerry Tarkanian 30 for 30. "Running Rebel: Tarkanian vs. the NCAA"

I'm not sure I would call us a tiny school. 12-13K is probably fairly average out of the 346 D-I bball schools. Yes I'm complaining. Why not complain?

            More commentary to follow...

Number 32 still hurts...that Cyclone team was built for the Final Four that year. I still remember watching that game and in disbelief.

                  What are you talking about??

That team died down the stretch because they couldn't stay healthy. They lost to Texas Tech and got beat in the first round of the Big XII tournament.

The year before they got absolutely hosed by not getting a one seed and having to play Michigan State in Detroit, but the Tinsley-only team was dead by March...

I'm not going to act like I knew much about that team (I was still in elementary school at the time) but it's pretty telling that they were the only team to play Michigan State within single digits during that tourney. No one was stopping Izzo and company that year

Should have won the game. Ended up calling a double foul with a minute left that 100% should have been a charge on MSU. So atrocious that Larry got a double T and ejected...

The officiating during the ISU-MSU Elite Eight game (practically a home game for MSU...) likely cost ISU the Championship in 2000. Two or three key players for ISU fouled out on very suspect calls and another couple had 4 fouls I believe.

not exactly true. the call came with almost 4 minutes to go and was NOT the play that got Natty Light ejected.

check it out, great website for a lot of old NCAA tourny games. you can watch this ISU-MSU contest in full if you want: http://vault.ncaa.com/

This was a very poorly officiated game down the stretch and I think Larry got ejected to show up the officials more than anything knowing that the game was over with 10 seconds to go
