I was enjoying reading up on the CF hatred toward Rima and came across this poll "Would you trade a win @ Iowa for a win vs Tech". so i thought, hmm Would you give up a win against SFA to have a win at Evansville?

Re: Win for a win?
Well my thought was between Richmond, SFA and Iowa.
SFA held the most weight as it i thought it would be a tough decision.
1st game of the season on the road against a talented returning tourney team with a 34 game home win streak we snapped. SFA will be a tourney team again and that win really springboarded this team to have the confidence i think it really could be a special team. At least in my view.

Re: Win for a win?
Ehh, I don't think I would. We control our destiny as far as the 1 seed in St Louis either way. Undefeated in conference would be nice, but that was a tough OT win at SFA, honestly I have my doubts that we'd be 24-2 without that win. Winning a tough OT game like we did, to a team who hadn't lost at home in forever, is a game that (I think) a team can really learn from and build on.To avoid confusion - my username is baseball (Cy Young award) related, NOT for the Cyclones.

Re: Win for a win?
I don't know. That win brought us some national attention very early on. For that entire day We were all over Twitter and media outlets."...the Northern Iowa men's basketball team reached the ultimate highs before hitting a devastating low. Unexpected success, followed by unimaginable failure. And they owned it -- all of it -- for the world to see. Like men. Like leaders. Like champions -- in a way no tournament bracket could ever define."

Re: Win for a win?
My thoughts exactly!Originally posted by Panther-Sheik View PostNope. That win was a springboard, and that loss was a wake-up call. Reverse them and they don't have the same effect. Conference championship is definitely a prize, but NCAA tourney and at least a chance at a national title is THE prize.
When I give tours of campus, no one cares about our conference banners.. They just want to see the one that says "Sweet 16" on it.John 3:16

Re: Win for a win?
that's stupid. I like all the banners. the more the better. means your distinguished and legit. ONE sweet 16 banner wouldn't do it/doesn't do anything for me.Originally posted by pantherfan4ever View PostMy thoughts exactly!

you obviously didn't understand the context of my comment.Originally posted by Purrrrrfect View Postthat's stupid. I like all the banners. the more the better. means your distinguished and legit. ONE sweet 16 banner wouldn't do it/doesn't do anything for me.John 3:16

Re: Win for a win?
you said NO ONE CARES About our conference banners. Makes perfect contextual sense to me. You then said they JUST (as in All they want to do) want to see the sweet 16 banner.
So you are leading me to believe either you are only directing your guests to the Mc and highlighting just that one banner...and/or you are a horrible liar and are stereotyping everyone.
Edit: You can't really give a contextual feel for something via typing unless it is explained typically btw.

Why so hostile towards another panther fan?....Originally posted by Purrrrrfect View Postyou said NO ONE CARES About our conference banners. Makes perfect contextual sense to me. You then said they JUST (as in All they want to do) want to see the sweet 16 banner.

Context: I was agreeing with a quote that another poster stated... that the SFA win was a springboard, the Evansville loss was a wake-up-call and that while conference championships are a prize, NCAA tourney and a chance at the national title is THE prize..
I then gave the example of giving tours and how this seems to hold true (fans get more excited about NCAA banners over conference banners). If you knew me, I bleed purple and gold. I am an alum and on staff. I love to brag on our university (not just athletics). I am definitely not someone who highlights that one banner and ignores the rest. In fact, I love to talk about all of the banners, not just basketball. It feels great to be in that gym with so many. However, since beating Kansas, it is fact that I can't remember a tour group that was more interested in the conference banners over the sweet 16 banner. It is something panther fans come on a tour waiting to talk about.
You are right, this doesn't mean NO ONE CARES at all about the other banners. Just simply in the context of conference banners vs. NCAA tourney banners, fans seem to show little interest compared to the sweet 16 banner. I felt like the context was clear but I guess not.
I am sorry to have offended you. I don't get on here to argue. I get on here to get excited with fellow panther fans about our great school and athletics. Have a great nightJohn 3:16
