"The MVC also selects a “Sixth Man Award” recipient, and this season’s honor goes to UNI's Wes Washpun. The honor is presented to the league's top reserve player (one who has started fewer than 25 percent of his team's games). Washpun, a junior from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has played in all 30 of UNI's games, coming off the bench in all of them. Nonetheless, he ranks second in scoring for the team with his 8.2 points-per-game average. He also ranks second for the Panthers in assists (83) and blocks (17), while tying for the team lead in steals (31). Washpun is the second UNI player to earn the Sixth Man Award, which was first chosen in 1997. Lucas O'Rear won it previously for UNI, in 2009 and in 2010."

Re: Wes Washpun, MVC Sixth Man Award
Wes is an incredible athlete. We knew that, but he (and Deon) have improved a ton as point guards and basketball players. Very well deserved as well."My role is to lead, plain and simple. . . .I with the help of my staff and our administration, we will lead." --Ben Jacobson

Re: Wes Washpun, MVC Sixth Man Award
Who comes off the bench for ISUr and Evansville? I'd bet Brozja gets on from UE but it's probably deserved. Wes, Buss and Jesperson all deserve to make the bench team. I can't think of any bench players for other teams besides Shaq Morris and I don't think he's All-Bench materialOriginally posted by achrist70 View PostWe should get 3 on the all bench team as well, but with the writers love of Evansville and Illinois State I am not holding my breath.
