Cool. Sets up next year nicely as we have never made the NCAA tournament without a transfer on the roster.Originally posted by Zakelsta View PostAdam McDermott, Greg's Nephew and former CR Xavier player, will transfer from North Dakota, to UNI and redshirt as a walk-on next year.

"I think they're very good," Farley said of the preseason top 25 Hawkeyes. "But so are we."

6'4" Shooting Guard
1 year of Division 1 ball, 56-137 from 3 (40.9%), 25-29 FT's (86.2%), positive A/TO ratio, 19 steals and 2.3 rebounds a game in 22.7 minutes a game. Solid numbers, I think he could work his way into the mix.
Article says he hopes to earn a scholarship by his junior year, which means two years of walk-on status (RS Soph (transfer) and Soph year). That would be one of the just finished sophomores schollys-can't think his production would be less than a Knar or Friedman.Number of times on Sports Illustrated cover:
Ben Jacobson coached teams = 2
UNI teams coached by everyone ban thinks is better = 0

Re: Adam McDermott Transfers to UNI
I think the kid's got a pretty good upside.
I also like that he got a good amount of playing time as a freshman and now has a RS year to work on his game and maybe put on 10 lbs.Winning is more fun than losing.

Re: Adam McDermott Transfers to UNI
As a walk on for this year, leaving us the ride to use on an experienced point for a 5th year situation, and the year after is a good deal for the program for sure.
He's clearly a shooter. Give him 2 years of feeling that he has to earn his ride which could easily cause him to work extra hard on his defense and other aspects of his game for those 2 years of potentially seeing good playing time. He could easily work himself into a situation like Buss, where once he figured out exactly what was expected he could become a pretty important piece of the puzzle.
Jake's comfortable with him coming in and I have no reason not to trust Jake's judgment. Even if he never really sees the floor in game action he should be plenty good enough to give real good practice looks.

Re: Adam McDermott Transfers to UNI
North Dakota's athletics website has some extended video highlights of a lot of their games.
I watched a couple to see McDermott play.
Clearly they had him playing a Matt Bohannon-like role on the offensive end...spotting up at various spots on the arc and waiting for the other guards to penetrate and kick it out.
What jumps out at me is his length and how many shots he made with pressure in his face. He's fairly tall and long arms. He doesn't wait til he gets a wide open look. He'll shoot it over a defender. And he gets the shot up fairly quick.Last edited by Blue42; 03-30-2016, 10:14 PM.Winning is more fun than losing.
