  • The 25 worst collapses in sports history

Back in the top 25. At least we're only No. 22.

"And immediately, (P'Allen Stinnett's) Facebook status was spouting vulgarities towards the university."

I don't even want to open the link.

I had to turn the TV off after regulation and didn't watch a second of either overtime, and I honestly don't think I'll ever be able to, even if someone offered me a million dollars.

I did the same thing. I went outside for a walk and came back in when it was over. I told people I saw them lose, I didn't need to see them get outscored. Great season, horrifying ending... that's why we love sports for those kind of stories.

I took the opposite approach. I rewatched a week or so after. It really helped me mourn. To see how well we played, and how much fight was still in us during overtime to force a 2nd OT. It was helpful for me at least.

Wyatt dos do his darnedest to try and win us that game after Wes fouled out and Matt was injured

That post-game presser with Matt and Wes was truly remarkable. That was one of the great moments in Panther athletic history.
              "Well, that escalated quickly."

Given how much that loss hurt, I've surprised myself in my ability to block it out. A few weeks ago I had a conversation with a friend which lead to discussion of this game. Rehashing the details was really painful.

From my perspective there are two challenges to making past that game and blocking it out.
#1 - Once this board starts to wake up for basketball, can we all agree to not discuss the meltdown?
#2 - My HOPE is that television announcers and broadcasters do not treat that loss in the same manner that they treated the win over Kansas. If they use that loss as a defining moment for our program, then we will be reminded of it in some way or another during every single game we watch over the course of the next 3 years.

1# I wouldn't worry only a Troll would follow up. I'm over it.
It's still the 2nd farthest this BB program has gotta in the tournament. And it not like the guys gave up in OT. The lack of depth hit in double OT and A&M slipped by.

                  2# will get annoying though,

Bonus: while traveling with UNI gear on is the Texas fans. Humbling that fan base is a good feeling.

Re: The 25 worst collapses in sports history

I think any time in the future when there is a game where we have a decent sized lead and the other team starts chipping away at it, it will be impossible not to think of the A&M game and think "Not again." It's just human nature. In the recent past there have been games where we have had big leads (Evansville and Texas to name a couple) and held on to win. Even the fabled Kansas game we had a good sized lead and almost blew it. If we're thinking about it, you can bet we'll be talking about it.

But that collapse doesn't define our program any more than the Kansas game does.

If I had the choice of either the KU game or the A&M game for the collapse to occur, I would not hesitate before picking the A&M game.
