If our unproven guys are as good as touted, we should be able to contend for first/second with WSU. Illinois State will implode as usual.

Yes. They always have excellent talent - right there with WSU - but they always underachieve.

Yup. OWI in the middle of the night on Saturday while driving with a suspended license.

He also had a paperwork snafu that makes him a senior this year rather than a junior.

They continue to run a tight ship in Normal.

I think Morgan probably has the best shot at the NBA of any of the recent UNI stars. He has the size, speed, can create his own offense and is a strong defender. There is a not a strong negative that comes to mind. I will be interested in seeing how this season progresses now that he is the centerpiece of the team.

Any chance Morgan runs the point position for UNI for stretches this season? I'm not familiar enough with his game to know if he can kind of move over and handle those duties for some periods. It seems to me UNI may need that at times during the year while the new PGs come along. A steady hand that knows how to not screw up and play the UNI brand of basketball well.

Yes, he kind of became the de facto backup when Washpun got into foul trouble at times last year. He was actually really good at the point in the Texas A&M game during the overtimes after Wes fouled out. Lohaus is much more comfortable off the ball.

Thanks. That's kindof what I was thinking. That safety net could really help with bringing along the new, young PGs. Don't have to have the ball in their hands in all the high-leverage situations throughout the season.

Impressive. I tend to think of Morgan as the kind of player that every coach respects, but few consider to be top-notch. Glad to see I was wrong. Congrats Jeremy. Now, I hope he bookends it by winning the post-season POY.

To me, he's kind of between the two options you listed. But looking around, who else would you pick in the preseason this year? McIntosh is probably the only other reasonable candidate based on past results. Beyond that, even if you go with a guy with that potential (like McDuffie), you're basing it on not much.

Is it just me or does everyone else feel like this year is a rebuilding year for the MVC?

The league absolutely sucks outside of UNI and Wichita. Illinois State is WAY overvalued because they have older guys.

Next year is promising but this year might be the worst its been since the late 90s. Bad.

And he'll probably be reinstated during Non-conf or beginning of conference play...

I mean an OWI is unfortunately, one of the lesser infractions that Ath Dept has dealt with in recent years. If drug dealing and hitting women only get you a few games, driving intoxicated probably falls right in line with their expectations.
