Ok, I'm shooting myself for even taking a peak at what this meathead is predicting in December. But, I'm a glutton for punishment and when it comes to tourney predictions, there is no one that sucks more than ESPN's Bracketology "Expert", Joe Lunardi. You remember Joe, don't you? The guy that didn't put UNI in his bracket last year until the day before the selections and then claimed himself to be "SO" smart when it happened.

    IN:

Wichita St - EIGHT SEED - Shocks have beaten ABSOLUTELY NO ONE but did lose by 1 to Illinois and by 19 (NINETEEN!!!) to Mich St. Good pick there. Apparently you gain points just for playing them.

Missouri State - TWELVE SEED - Undefeated but beaten NO ONE BIG, and a quality win over a pretty good Oral Roberts team. My favorite part about these two picks is that he has MSU winning the MVC but in 4 spots lower than WSU who he picks to finish behind.

IOWA - SIX SEED - Granted, they'll probably make it and this is probably about the line they'll land on but this piece of crap didnt even drop them after losing TWO games to (in his book) INFERIOR TEAMS!!

ISU - TWELVE SEED - Great follow up here you idiot Lunardi. I understand if you dropped them last week after losing to Fresno but how can they drop AGAIN after winning two in a row including one over Iowa who you so clearly think is the better team??

    OUT -

Northern Iowa - Yep, that's right, the 5-1 team that just knocked off his love child, Iowa, is not in the tournament.

I know, I know, I know. It's early and these things mean absolutely NOTHING. But I'm so sick of shmucks like this that have jobs and are never held accountable for anything. I mean, really, this is only four examples of this man's suckage, the list could go on and on.

Remember, he's seeding the tournament as if Selection Sunday is today and right now, many of the BCS schools have not had time to falter enough to date. They will begin to beat each other up and slide in the RPI rankings and right now, MSU and WSU are ranked higher in the RPI's than UNI. It is just December and this guy is pretty close to being right...in March.

We're out at this point? We've lost ONE road game. Give me a break.

Lunardi was always putting UNI on the bubble and breaking in last spring and although he did say we didnt stand a chance against Wisc he was wrong in that their big men were held to thier worst scoring games. However he is just predicting who would be picked if the NCAA was tomorrow, but I am afriad I still cant agree with UNI being out while teams which are not getting AP and coaches votes, and teams with much lower RPIs are on his bracket. Yes it is early and means nothing in terms of reality, but it does point out how little respect UNI has earned from the east coast . Athlon and SI may have liked us as a cinderella, but there are still a lot of people who we need to make believers out of, and that isnt going to happen in 6 games. Just wait till Feb. then worry about Lunardi and ESPN, cause it will all take care of itself when we get into the MVC season and starte winning games. For now lets all get ready for FAMU saturday and keep cheering on the boys on the hardwood, after we win a national championship it should be an even more fun game.

Bucknell is a freakin' 10-seed. TC nailed it right on the head about the east coast hype machine that is ESPN. If Bucknell loses in their conference tourney and still gets in and costs a team like Wichita or SIU that will be ten times more deserving it will be the greatest outrage in the history of major college sports!!!

I really don't watch ESPN anymore. Except for football games when I have the sound turned down.

I can't believe ESPN pays these people six figures to make predictions this early in the season. Conference play has not even started. I predict there will be snow on my lawn tomorrow and that it will be sunny in California. Someone should pay me for that prediction. I used more scientific knowledge than Joe did.

It doesn't matter, personally I'd rather our team see this BS and respond like the football team and realize they still have to come out and prove themselves we haven't earned anything yet, the conference is gunning for us

I've said for a long time that I'd be willing to be ESPN.com's "Valley Correspondent" and help them to actually have good information on the conference.

Actually no, this isn't true 2317. Lunardi has absolutely no leg to stand on in any scenario regarding his proof of WSU deserving a bid, ESPECIALLY an 8-seed. They haven't beaten anyone. Really, he should have Ind State with like a 4-seed if you follow his logic.

                    Missouri State: RealtimeRPI=2, KenpomRPI=5
                    Indiana State: RT=3, KenPom=8
                    UNI: RT=25, KenPom=18
                    WSU: RT=85, KenPom=77

Obviously this proves that the RPI is meaningless but it also proves that Lunardi is clueless. My point of this thread is not to debate necessarily whether we should be in or out (although it ticks me off, nonetheless) but to show how ESPN creates its own reality. They dont have to have a basis for anything beyond the ones they invent.

I wish there could be some sort of point/counter point where fans are allowed to question where the heck these bozos come up with their info and the bozos have to respond to it publicly. It just ticks me off to no end that they never have to be held accountable and they are getting paid to write about sports. Whereas I get paid to do my regular job and sneak in a few dozen posts spewing my own "knowledge" about free.

Wow...I am listening to the Valley coaches conference call as I type this and there are 3 Valley teams with RPI's in the Top 15: Missouri State, UNI and I missed the third one. Lunardi really has lost it then, because he's been so adamant on television before and when he's responding on espn.com's web page that he does Bracketology as if Selection Sunday was today. It's his mantra. He's way off...

If it's just a guess anyway, wouldn't you do something crazy, like put 4 Valley teams in there right now? That would start some interesting conversations!

                            That's right...they are undefeated and own a "W" over #15 ranked Indiana.

                              He might as well!!

This guy sucks. Last year he listed the same school in his bracket twice for multiple weeks before finally fixing it.

He has received so many emails from me regarding his stupidity over the last few years I've lost count. However, he's never once responded. Again, why do you need to be accountable, right?

Haven't sent one this year yet, gotta find his email again.
