By the way, FANTASTIC article. It almost brought a tear, to think where this school has finally found itself.

Dollar for dollar, we are the best athletic program in America. NOBODY is doing more with less then we are.

Man, to see UNI right under a story about Duke on a national sports site. Wow, I never thought we would get here!!

Great story! I have to admit, it brought a tear of pride to my eyes when I read it. He even managed to mention the football team's NC run and runner-up trophy.

I thought it was a great piece. I loved the whole thing, Ive emailed it to my family and friends. I was so happy to see the MVC, UNI, and Ben get the press they all deserve. The whole team has stepped up to get the school and Ben this kind of recognition and I am so happy and excited about this season and the future of Panther Basketball. GO PANTHERS!!!

Great article. It's so great to see that the nation is getting a taste of what we have been seeing for the last couple of years. Go Panthers!!
Coach Whisenhunt 1/18/09. "There was never any complaints about not being named the starter, all he wanted was an opportunity and he took advantage of it. Kurt is probably one of the greatest individuals you'll ever meet. Kurt worked hard on a lot of things that a lot of times older quarterbacks aren't willing to do. That's a credit to his humility and his competitive drive, and the reason that we are here today in great part is what Kurt Warner has done for us."

I hope folks take the time to email him and let him know we appreciate the article.

Also on SI.com this morning 2/9/06

Other cites to UNI are at USA Today in their February 2, 2006 chat wrap where they don't believe that UNI was a bad loss for LSU.

Arlington, VA: LSU isn't a team that has been talked about much this season. They are now 7-0 in conference play and the SEC is shaping up to be much stronger than many originally believed. Is LSU a legitimate threat to win the SEC tournament and make a run in March?
Tim Gardner: I agree that the LSU talk has been lacking. The Tigers are near locks to win the SEC West and will likely go deep into the league tourney. Earlier losses to Ohio State, UConn and Northern Iowa have really set LSU nicely for what has turned out to be a relatively softer SEC than we're used to seeing. They could surprise some teams in the tourney like West Virginia did last year.

                        and this morning on SI.com:

"Lot of people talked about Ohio State or Georgetown or Michigan State or whoever, [or] Maryland in our bracket. When the brackets came out, the first team I looked at was Northern Iowa," Kansas Coach Bill Self.

Wow...look at what a gret job a national sports writer can do when they actually get to a UNI game in person. It was a great article and I hope to see more of those types of stories on UNI in the future all over the college basketball world. I loved that he had a quote from a student and another student-athlete who is obviously a fan as well...great to see! Can't wait until Saturday night! GO PANTHERS!
