  • UNI vs MSU

This game is scaring me. This game is as huge as last tuesday game, we can't afford to lose this game, we have to find a way to win.

if you have been living in a cage, this saturday is "coaches vs cancer". If you have not sent in a donation to the cancer society, you will be given a chance to donate money at the doors.

If you have been living in a cage, you wouldn't know this either. They are have the Athletic Club (Panther Scholorship club) renewal carnival before the game. The doors open at 4:30 P.M. Get there early b/c they are expecting a record breaking crowd.

    Predictions:
    UNI: 68
    MSU: 67

Attendance: 10,327 ( lets get the number above 10,000 for a MVC game)!!!!
Side note: we only had 7,800 last year for the Iowa State game, and now we will have 10,000 for this game.

And don't forget to WEAR PINK to the game. How cool would it be for Coach Mac and Theresa to see all of their fans showing support for not only their basketball team but for their family with everyone showing up wearing pink!!
"...the Northern Iowa men's basketball team reached the ultimate highs before hitting a devastating low. Unexpected success, followed by unimaginable failure. And they owned it -- all of it -- for the world to see. Like men. Like leaders. Like champions -- in a way no tournament bracket could ever define."

Better for people to show support to the fight against cancer in general, but you have a point. The best part of an event like that is if people gain interest becasue of someone like the McDermott's, but expand that into caring about the 'forgotten' people with the disease.

Yes you're right Newsbreaker... I didn't mean to make it sound like people should wear pink just for Theresa and Mac -- just that they've done a good thing by making this issue more public and making more people aware of it. I think we've all known or lost people who've had to fight this -- lets remember that tomorrow night.

I agree. It's a hard enough thing to deal with, without the added pressure of making your personal fight "public." They should be commended.

Pull the driver out of the bag; show some confidence

I am as confident of the outcome of this game as any this season. Unfortunately will not be able to go, but them's the breaks. To wit:

First place Panthers at home Saturday night. H & C play earlier.
Coaches vs Cancer with personal aspect involved. I know how I would react if my coach's spouse was facing cancer and I was involved in a specific game to raise cancer awarness.
Abilitiy to hold serve and put more pressure on the rest of the league.
            TV game.

Last and certainly not least, 10,157 ROARING UNI fans.

Ladies and gentlemen, a ferocious predator continues to stalk the nation:

            85-68

                  Thanks AlleyCat

I'm there. Hey ... two associates here in Tallahassee have heard of Northern Iowa and Coach Mac. No kidding. I was floored.

                      UNI - 67
                      MSU - 56

Its going to be as big of a game as WSU was. This is the most important game of the season (to quote 2317). Its going to be a tough one, but the Panthers are on a streak and could take this one handly if they want to.

                      GO PANTHERS!!!

Im having a feeling that Ben is going to go nuts, Ben leads all scorers with 25pts, with over half of them, in the second half. Thats always been his thing.

Pink and Purple...a great color combination. As a friend of Greg and Theresa
I know they will see purple as pink!

While this game does'nt scare me it won't be an easy one. Nothing is quite as scary as a team at the end of their rope, and that would be MSU. If they don't win this they need St. Louis or its another NIT. They will be hungry and play with eveything they have. Still, UNI seems to not fully overlook anyone and I think the boys will have everything to play for, especially since it will be an emotional atmosphere. UNI 68 MSU 60

Just like the last meeting...if this is an up and down game...MSU has the edge. If UNI dictates tempo, defends the half-court offense well and gets to the free throw line (while keeping Blake Ahearn OFF the FT line), then I think the Panthers can prevail. GO PANTHERS!!!

All UNI has to do is play THEIR game just like they have done ALL year. We are at home and we have great defense, i dont see us allowing them to sucker us into playing their game.. we have allowed ONE team all year over 70 points, we just dont let it get up and down very often and i dont see it happening from this group of guys (very experienced) in the dome.
