  • Great job UNI fans!!!!!

What a great game and fortunately we came out on top. It was great to storm onto the court after that win!!! It was so fun to be a panther fan today and I thing we as fans put on a good show on national TV.

I think we were a pretty class act by the fans also and I hope we keep as good of relations with Bucknell as we do now(we'll see em next year early on).

Only negative I have is the loud JackAss that was sitting behind me in the student section. You could tell he hadn't been to many games by his ignorant comments such as yelling at Mac to use his head and sub a different player. And then the comment that resulted in me exchanging words with the young man....... at the end when we were up 2 and shooting free-throws he yells, "Hey Bucknell! you F*cking SUCK!"(I bet he's actually a hawkeye fan, sounds like there kind) How can someone be that ignorant? Bucknell is a good team and I congratulate there effort for such a small school. We are very similar to them in terms of building our programs and I'd love it if they were in the Valley. We don't need to humiliate our opponents. Overall though great job fans!!!

How could anyone who watched that game not feel that Bucknell deserved the win? Not to say they are the better team, but if Brooks hadn't made the best play he's made all year, we lose. I wouldn't want to play them again.

Bucknell reminded me of Wisconsin, large unathletic post players, and good shooting athletic perimeter players combined with stifling defense. I'm ecstatic we got the win, and ended our season long 2 game losing streak. That is so great to think about, season long 2 game losing streak. Choke on that Sam Weaver! Just kidding, no hard feelings Sammy-boy, without you the joy of today wouldn't be near as sweet.

Okay, I gotta say I'm getting tired of hearing from you guys that say we were lucky to win this one. If we were lucky to win this one, we were unlucky to lose the last two!!!

There's no doubt we had some rough patches to end the first half and to start the second. But frankly, I thought Bucknell was lucky to stay with us in the overtime periods. (How about that Bucknell three made as time expired???? Slop.) And remember, we had pulled the game to within one (and had the big mo) with 13 minutes left in regulation when the refs blew two calls in a row, took the ball away from us both times, and resulted in 4 or 5 Bucknell points. Seriously, for those of you who say that the refs were bad going "both ways" - get real. That may be the worst ref job I've ever seen...An over and back on Jacobsen? The bear-hug hold on Stout no call? Bucknell boot OB that was called out on us? Pretty bad, folks.

Fact is, we got some work to do before tournament time, but we had some moments when things looked really good. By the way - Props to Travvy Brown!!!! What a performance!!!!

Also, I love Benny J, and I know he had 14 points...but he took some BAD shots today. I still can't decide if his shot is off, or if he's just getting so much extra attention he can't get a clean shot. Regardless, he needs to find the magic in March.

You can't seriously say that was a bad call, the non-reaction of the crowd pretty much decides it. It wasn't Benny's fault, but still the correct call.

I don't remember anyone saying we got lucky on this one. The way things were going we were very fortunate to get the W. And I think there were more bad calls against us than Bucknell

i would agree with this for Indiana State.....3 shots to go ahead in the last 20 seconds and actually got a timeout called for us when i felt it should've been a jump ball (which UNI would've had possession).....then we didn't have a TO to work out the last 2 of those shots.....that was unlucky in my opinion

Right call by the official, BAD choice by the individual doing the passing...

Okay, fine - I'll conceed the over and back. But you can't deny those other two...along with a whole host of other horrible calls that brought a BIG reaction from the crowd. I think the fan in front of me said it best several times throughout the game: Hey refs, you know bear-hugs aren't allowed, right?

I'm just saying, we need to stop apologizing for winning this one, (with comments like "How could anyone who watched that game not feel that Bucknell deserved the win?") and focus on winning two or three more and getting better along the way. After all, they don't give style points in calculating the RPI. All that matters is: we won.

Actually, I taped the game to see what the announcers talked about when I got home from the game. I re-watched to see some of the missed calls, the one that really surprised me was the over and back. In person I thought it was correct, watching on tape- JLit NEVER crossed half court with either foot or the ball. That was just as bad a call as the rest, I think the crowd may have just been numb to all the other calls as this was in short succession following the hold of Grant and the McNaughton dribbling off his foot out of bounds but keeping possession.
The guys deserved to win by how they overcame a lot of adversity, making big shots and good decisions down the stretch.

p.s. Now what happened to the red challenge flag they must issue in the PL for correctable errors?

Actually it WAS a bad call. If it's the one I'm thinking of. The rule states that both feet PLUS the ball have to be in the front court before it is considered over and back. If you look at the replay, both of JLitt's feet are still in the back court when he flipped it to Benny. After he released the ball his momentum carried him into the front court making it appear that he was in already in the front court.

People confuse the over and back all the time...a player can actually have the ball and one foot in the front court and still come back to the back court if he wants to legally.

You can't rely on the crowd to make the call. Although these refs still sucked no matter how hard we yelled at their crappy calls.
