I understand Oldcat, and I personally think if the players "need" anything, one direction or another, off this board, our ship has sank anyway.

We're just looking, by having constructive conversations, for potential ways to fix the problems our team has. Blind 'rah-rah' doesn't do any more good then these discussions...and if the coaches have that attitude right now (I'd be my right foot they do not) then we'll smile our way right into an early off-season.

I think there is a place for these discussions, and if you don't enjoy them, or find any benefit in them, then the option is always yours to ignore them, with all due respect of course.

If you think Brooks has a tough time against Defenses in The Valley, throw a freshman into the fire. Mac redshirted those guards for a reason, Travis Brown has shown that if Mac thinks your ready as a freshman you will get your shot. Stewart obviously was not ready for DI basketball yet. I am sure the original plan was to redshirt Brooks as well, but the same thing happened as did with Travis, he helped the team and was too good not to play.

Brooks has been a huge part of the last three years. I think some people expected way to much out of him coming out of high school and he is paying for not being the player some expected. Brooks was a scorer in high school, not a shooter, He needed some time to get going which he had in high school, but Mac has never given him at this level. It is hard to find rhythm when you are only allowed to take 3 or 4 shots a night. What Brooks brings as being the only true vocal leader on the floor makes up for some of the deficiencies that he has. He has been asked to have skills at this level that he never developed in high school.

You simply cannot question Brooks leadership and he does a lot better in the situation he was put into than most players would. Find another player that holds a scoring record, tell him he runs the offense and does not shoot, and see how he fares.

News is right on Jacobson. The comment about him needing rest was right on 3 weeks ago or so, but its no longer very much the case. In the last 3 L's he's shooting 20-42, which is above the team average in those games for sure. And several of those shots are last second desperation trys, while many more are right at the shot clock buzzer. I would love it if we could rest him more, but he just does too much, not only scorering but drawing the D away from other players. Besides, 4 of his last five games have been awfully darn solid, and even Bucknell he was not horribly off. Besides, we just don't seem to have the depth at guard that can spell him. So yeah, less mins would be great, but its just not possible and he's really back to shooting fairly darn well considering the circumstances

Pretty sure that isn't the case here, but I won't be surprised if you find some geniuses on here who agree with you.
We will be looking for a coach soon. I don't think we need to shoot them. I think we need to pray really hard we get out of the MVC tournament with at least one win.
