  • TV viewing outside Iowa

As the game approaches most of youthat aren't in Iowa, like me, are trying to figure out a way to watch the games on Friday. I'd love to watch the Hawkeyes and Panthers back to back but I'm not sure if the local Twin Cities CBS affiliate will be showing them. I know Wisconsin plays at the same time as Iowa so they'll probably pick up that game but I don't see any other games at the same time as the UNI game that would be as much interest to the Twin Cities market. Given that the Panthers have recruited this area and have starters playing from high schools in this market I'm hopeful WCCO picks up the Panthers for their 2:30ish slot.

Not that write in campaigns are all that helpful but maybe some of you that are up in the Twin Cities market would like to write a note of encouragement. Even if you aren't in this market it would definitely help recruiting to have UNI on television as much as possible up here. Here's a link to drop them a note if you'd like:

I clicked on "programming" and "suggestion".

Sign up for the FREE all game package on cstv.com. You'll have to watch it on the computer, but if its like last year (when you had to pay) you control which games you watch when and the quality is pretty darn good if your computer is ok. It is, however, about 20-25 secs behind reality

Yeah but there is a high likelihood you wont get into the "virtual viewing room" either or will be randomly thrown out due to overload. I am very skeptical of the system this year compared to last if its what I'm going to be COUNTING on to get me the game.

Best bet, find a bar that will show all of them.

Hoy fan here with an add on.

The advantage of watching it on the computor is that there won't be prolonged breaks to look at other first round games. There could be 10 minutes to go in the second half and suddenly, they break to watch other first round games. Then I start screaming at the TV. I work, but I have a computer at my desk, so I am going to sneak looks at the game.

On the other hand, it really isn't free. You have to provide information such as your phone number (I don't give them my true number), and e-mail address, etc. So you can expect to be bombarded with junk mail during the next few weeks.

Another point of information. If you sign up today or tomrrow, you are a VIP member and have a much shorter wait to get on. If you wait until Thursday, you are a general member and have a longer wait to get on. If you are interested, I would sign up today as 88% of the VIP passes are gone.

Lastly, I never got thrown out. The secret is to try to get on as soon as possible before the first game and just walk away until the Georgetown, UNI comes on

Point of information. This is actually being sponsored by CBS.

          Good luck

Thanks Jerry. I am just a paranoid person by nature and am cautioning people not to use this as their only way to watch the game, if they can avoid it. Last year was a little different as you had to sign up for all these free trials of magazines and stuff and then had to remember to cancel them. I would imagine they probably had 10% of the people signed up last year as they will this year. That said though, I assume they'll be ready for the traffic.

Also, another reminder that if you can't watch from home and its on WCCO (or whomever/wherever your local CBS affiliate is), you wont be able to get it on your computer. That game is blocked out.

FYI - WCCO has their schedule up for the Thursday games but not Friday. Makes me think they are having some trouble making decisions about which Big Ten game to show at 11:30 and then once that is figured out, they'll post the rest.

For good measure, I'd continue to email them about it. In my email I mentioned that it would be a shame to not show the Panthers with the 3 Minnesota boys on the roster.

                thanks!!

I live in south Florida so I doubt that they will be broadcasting the UNI GU game here. Actually, if you live in an area where the UNI GU game is on, you are stuck since they break away. they are also more likely to break away, if the game appears to be a rout. I strongly doubt that that is going to happen on Friday with us

Good news for all Twin Citians, WCCO has decided to carry the UNI game at 1:30.

I am very pumped. I will actually be at a college hockey tournament that day but I'll have a 7-inch tv that I'm bringing with me so as not to miss the action.

Ahhh... it will be a great St. Paddy's day!!
