As far as I know, yes. But I'll get back to you with a definite answer on that later...

Flagship girl is rarely wrong but she is wrong on this one! The UNI Sports Network has NOT broadcast the mens exhibition basketball games for probably the last 10 years and when that did happen we broadcast just one of the two exhibition games. I think it stopped back in Eldons last year or two when UNI was playing a foreign team and they basically walked off the floor with a few minutes left to play and it was decided then to not do an exhibition game again. Now with UNI playing college teams that isn't going to happen and UNI might entertain the idea of broadcasting them in the upcoming years. I think with all the excitement surrounding the basketball program now it might be something to consider but it won't happen this year. It is something that needs to be agreed upon with the flagship station, affiliates and UNI back in about April so everyone involved can include it in their advertising packages and programming. Without that being done the games can't or won't be aired.

I noticed on the basketball schedule online that it shows that the games will be available for audio. Is this coming from KGRK (or whatever it is now?)?
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

Phew! I'm kinda glad I'm wrong...that would have been four or five games for me to run this week and that's just getting crazy....!

ETA: and hey, I could, yanno, GO TO A GAME for once!

            Exhibition Radio

Since we're playing Central College, I didn't know if possibily they would air the game on their radio station (assuming they have one)? Not sure if they would do that, or if they do do that. Anyways, if anyone knows on that I would greatly appreciate it since I won't be abel to attend the game (because of Iowa High School Football Playoffs I have to attend).

KGRK became KULT a few years ago. I know they *used* to cover all UNI home games, with the occasional road game tape delayed, and I would imagine they still do.

Not that many years ago, then KGRK had a GREAT sports broadcast team that were every bit as good as most of the "commerical" broadcasts you could find. I don't know who they have doing it, or how good they are, now.

I signed up for KULT last fall, went to one shift, and promptly quit. It was incredibly disorganized and I've done college radio where it wasn't and I didn't see the point in keeping it up. Rather bad deal, really...

That's too bad, at one point we had close to 130 people on staff.

College radio, by design, is somewhat 'disorganized' with individual DJ's having a lot of say over what music gets played. That can easily become chaos.

You can do some really fun, creative, interesting things in college radio that commercial radio will never let you get away with, however.

I did college radio out in Fort Dodge at KICB, and it was great. I had a Beatles show and really enjoyed it immensely. We were pretty well organized, but still had fun. My one shift on KULT was on a Sunday at noon, I couldn't get in the studio until well after noon because I had to find someone to unlock the door, had to find all the legal IDs, the computer died at one point, and there weren't any instructions as to wheither or not the transmitter was on or not...yeah, I decided I'd done enough radio to not deal with the BS.

(why can't I get the "BS" smiliey to work?)

They, against *someones* suggestion, bought a really cheap automation program. When they put the LPFM signal up, they had to ID 24 hours a day, so they had to be automated because the Union won't let anyone in the building outside of normal hours, so they got what they could, but it never worked (my brother was there up until about 2 years ago, quite a while after I left.)

The transmitter is hard wired, so there is no dial up...either it's on or it's off, and if it's off, you're stuck until someone can get to the roof of Schindler.

FWIW, KULT operates on an obscenely small budget.

Oh, I don't doubt they operate for peanuts. But I don't think organization costs anything...but that's just MHO. I get enough radio as it is!

I have tried to get the link to KULT-FM to work so that I can listen to the game online, but to no avail.

But, there is a 'gametracker' option for the game. Check it out on the main page of unipanthers.com
