I think ANdy Katz was forced to write it. HE obviously spent a ALOT of time researching it as the UNI logo now on the ESPN website includes the UNI in the logo.

The only reason the article was written is that ESPN has to say that MVC is big time because they signed the TV deal (believe me we have earned it).

Katz is still just as incompetent as ever and the worste part is you cannot even email ESPN.com to let them know how they screwed up.

Sorry the NIU thing gets to me cause I really don't like the huskies.

Part of the reason that the Valley is hanging around the top seven now is that it can keep the top coaches. Sure, Greg McDermott bolted UNI for Iowa State because his salary doubled, but the norm might end up being more like at Creighton and Wichita, where Dana Altman and Mark Turgeon, respectively, have pulled themselves out of job searches when their universities offered them $750,000 a year.



since i've never made a mistake, i too feel that it is crap that katz used the acronym NIU instead of UNI JK

obviously the first few edits didn't catch it, but after it was posted, someone caught it and it has been changed. a great article that states exactly what i've said all along, "the Valley should be lucky to be #7 in the college basketball discussion, but never settle for it and continually try to move up the ladder even more."

The valley was higher than #7 last year and will be higher than that this year again. He doesn't say the MVC is #7, he says it is one of the top 7, meaning we are on a level with the BCS conferences, and he is right. The ranking of the 7 will vary from year to year, but you have to include the Valley now in any discussion of the best conferences or you just look foolish.

good for you. i am originally from illinois, then went to uni, so i guess i'm just used to the UNI/NIU mixup ... your proactiveness is a better thing than my cynicism ... i apologize for the joke

As of tonight, there are only 4 conferences in the nation that don't have any blemishes on their team's records...Big 12, ACC, Pac-10, and the MVC! Hey Mike, can you say, "Whoops?"
