When does the new basketball arena open so we can play some games in it?

UNI is 2-0 in it's new basketball home. It opened with Volleyball on November 18th. The decision to play the ISU game in the DOME was made long before the McLeod Center construction was complete.

Yeah we did...there is a reason for it though. With Mac returning we knew it would be a huge game and wanted to let whoever wanted to come to the game in. Especially students! If we played it in the new arena we would not have allowed 3,000 of the people that were there last night to be there. Cause the new arena only holds 7,200 with standing room. So that is the reason

UNI spent millions on Gallager Bluedorn (however it's spelled),
yet still holds concerts in the Dome ( you know, because the accoustics there are just so good...)

I find Northern Iowa Backer's attempt to be funny...well...not. We've known since last March the ISU game would be played in the Dome. The Athletic Department gave the reasons why they thought it was right (whether you agree with them or not) and UNI won the game. So...let it go and now come to all of the games in the McLeod.

Regarding the joking nature of this topic, I dont think its worth getting so sensitive. I know I'm a hypocrite because there are certain things that I get really sensistive about all of the time. It's just that the way I see it, it's not the worst thing in the world to joke around every once in awhile even at your "own" expense. Heck, I love my family and friends and I pick on them all of the time!

From an outsiders perspective it really is comical. I can't tell you how many people in the last two days have basically made fun of UNI to me because they moved that game. It is a joke. As I said in one of my long posts yesterday, you can't really even convince me that it was financially beneficial. And I think if you read his quotes, even our own AD started to turn the corner after he witnessed all that was involved in moving the game and started to weigh the plusses and minusses (one "s" or two??).

Bottom line -- I appreciated the sense of humor shown by NIB.
