  • Anyone tiring of the "Mac Lovefest??"

I am not trying to start anything up here, just start an objective discussion.

Is anyone else getting sick of Jake mentioning Mac after every big win? This is his team now and he has definitely put his stamp on it. He has added the transition game to the repetoire.

Mac put UNI basketball on the map and deserves a lot of credit for doing what he did. BUT, he chose the payday, remember he interviewed for the K-State job on his way back from Dayton.

This is Ben Jacobsen's team now and I wish that he would start acting like it. If Mac was coaching last Tuesday, UNI does not win. McKowen taking chances with the long ball and Coleman's emotions are just not things that Mac dealt well with... Just my $.02

    I disagree.
UNI isn't exactly splitting atoms in terms of academics. -run&blade

Agreed it's time to move on, but couldn't disagree more with the statement that if Mac was still our coach UNI wouldn't have won. That is ridiculous. Besides Jake mentions him because he is his BEST FRIEND.

A lot of this might settle down in a few weeks once conference games start to roll around.

        Having said that....

They are best friends. Get used to them talking about each other.

Ummm, just my 2 cents but Mac dosen't talk about Ben in his post-game interviews(except UNI)
Oh, and let me make this perfectly clear to you people: you go to UNI, NOT IOWA. The Hawkeyes and their fans do not give a crap if you remain "true to them" or some stupid self-fulfulling bullcrap like that.-OTP

Mac talked about Jake when interview by KCCI in Des Moines in discussing the big win and ISU upcoming game vs Iowa.

And Jake was never the head coach at ISU.

I'm not in the business of making excuses for Mac, but the situations aren't exactly the same. Jake refers to Mac because Mac helped build the UNI's current team.

I would agree, I would love for Jacobson to credit the wins to him and his team, that Mac for what he gave us, but after that, Jake's the coach and its his team now.

As long as Jake keeps getting the "big win", I really don't care if he mentions Mac, or his 8th grade math teacher, or his great uncle Stan, or anyone else he feels deserves it.

                      Just keep the W's coming!

Yes. I didnt hear the postgame show Tuesday but my dad told me that when Gary asked him what the win meant to him he said, "Its for the players and coaches, our fans, etc, etc, and most of all we won this for Mac". Im not sure if this is exactly how he said it cause i didnt hear it myself, and if he didnt disregard this, but if he did then that sorta irks me. To credit Mac is one thing, but to say Mac is the biggest reason we beat Iowa, come on!
                        Sincerely,

I believe we all have a mentor that we attribute our success too. Mac taught Jake a lot about coaching. I still bring up stuff at my sales meetings from a manager I had 15 years ago! I think it is good stuff.

Obviously just an opinion, but I agree.
