  • only 5100 at the game?

How come we can't get better attendance on a Saturday night? I was there with 2 of my 3 kids and we had a great time. Any insight??

Well, I had my student ticket and my card wouldn't scan. So I wonder if other students had similar problems. That would really throw off the total.

I'll second that. Old timer at the door was plenty cool, but I noticed the scanning machine made no recognition of my ticket verus my son's ticket.

My thinking on the empty season ticket seats is that some of those people are retired and buy them as their way of supporting the program and then head to Florida for the winter. They try to give them away to their kids or friends but sometimes the receipients(spelling) are not all that interested. Also, some of the blocks of seats would be owned by corporations who again buy them as a way of support, and then make them available to people who are something less than rabid fans. Its too bad cause lots of people would die to have some of those seats. Maybe there should be some sort of call-in program(on a game-to-game basis) if your not going to use your ticket, and just give the seat away to whom ever might show up. That might encourage even more attendance-especially by students.

If the empty seats were season ticket holders, then my guess would be, was anyone turned away at the gate?

UNI does offer it. I have tried to do it this year but it got messed up. I've done it in the past with no problems. They've been more than happy to oblige me. The problems I've experience this bb season are probably to do with all the changes in the management of the facilities and the opening of the McLeod. If a person calls in and requests that they place your tickets in "will call" for others, they will reprint the single game tickets. You will have to mail your original tickets for that game to the ticket office.

If you want to let the University use them, they can not resell them. The tickets can be given on a "need" basis for those that request them, game sponsors, recruits, etc. I'll be using this procedure later this year and I'll probably have no problem.

It looks kind of bad when about a dozen court side seats are empty

I noticed that too. I think a bunch of those are owned by the Deery family. I understand that they donate lots of money, cars and time to the University... but it's too bad there can't be a way to get some butts in those seats.

I drive about 2 hours to get to the games and usually there are just 2 of us in the car( both of us have season tickets). If I knew a day or two in advance that there would be some good seats available at a reasonable price I would try to bring more people along and get them hooked on UNI basketball. We need an easy way to match those empty seats with people who want to use them.

I think they need to lower the 15 dollar price on the tickets personally.. that is more than i pay to go see the dallas mavericks here in dallas

Im not suggesting that everyone has 15 bucks to dish out several times a year, but 15 seems pretty reasonable for a Division 1 college basketball team that has made the tournament 3 straight years. I dont have any specific numbers, but I'm guessing are prices are pretty competative when compared to other schools in the state.

How much do you suggest they sell tickets for? 10? 5??? Heck, why dont we just give out a free ticket with the purchase of any large popcorn at the concession stand.
