It has gotten to the point where when we shoot a 3 it feels like we are punting. And when we make one I am legit surprised.

Sad... I thought the Panthers would be better. 21 turnovers... 11% from 3... not much to get excited about.

Once everything clicks we're going to be damn good. Very, very much like the 08-09 team and the 10-11 team before Luke broke his foot. Can also throw the NIT team in that group too.

Every single guy on the roster is playing a vastly different role than last year and our best player has played 2 DI games. We'll be pretty tough come January and February.

This team’s stock is definitely one I would be buying right now. It may take the non conference to get things figured out, but I have all the confidence that this isn’t another version of the last couple years.

Once again, he rolls out a very guard-oriented product for no reason. Shooting 23% from 3 and they just keep chucking. Same issue as prior yrs. green shooting 20% from 3. Lohaus should never shoot unless wide open. He’s forcing a lot. Not very athletic for this level and not cut out for a fast paced game at all. Slow it down unless a run out presents. Use your bigs. We have several with very nice potential that are shooting high percentages that should have way more touches. Green will be good but has a lot on him as guard court is so weak around him. Lohaus is a role player on most teams. Berhow is a disappointment so far. Haldeman has never shot consistently. Love Brown and pickford but both need roles defined clearly. See pickford as a poor mans tyler cook. There is talent there but a lot of shaping needs to happen. Jake needs to do one of his best coaching jobs to bring it together quick enough

We have 4 guys who shot the 3 at 40%+ last year, plus Isaiah who has been very good from 3 so far this year. There's been 2 bad games from 3, considering how we played inside the arc yesterday, I'm not really worried about our shooting. The 3s will fall. Just need some more discipline handling the ball.

I was going to call BS on that claim, but thought I better check before doing so and it turns out you are technically correct. Our two best 3 point shooters last year were Conrey and Phyfe who both shot 50% and were a combined 7-14. So while true, you certainly had to cherry pick a bit to make your claim and whatever your point is supposed to be. We have been a terrible 3 point shooting team for a number of years, at or near the bottom of the MVC, and so far this year we are starting out at our worst ever.

It can get better, it almost has to statistically speaking, but we rely way too much on the 3 ball considering how bad we are at it. So far this year our only ray of hope overall is AJ. If he and one other guard can get to 40% in conference play, we have a chance at a pretty good season, regardless of how Conrey shoots it.

Berhow shot 40%, Biggie 40.6%, Wyatt 45.3% and AJ 48.8%. Sure, Biggie and AJ were at different levels, but it still shows their abilities. I'm not saying we'll shoot 40%+ as a team, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect improvement over the last couple games.

Oh, jeebus, you're doing something even worse than I thought you were. You're claiming 4 of our guys shot over 40% last year when 3 out of the 4 weren't even here last year. At least Conrey and Phyfe were on the team. Virtually every guard we've every recruited shot over 40% as a senior in high school, doesn't mean a damn thing when it comes to high level DI basketball. Our average player drops 15% on their shot percentage vs. high school.

Yea, how many freshman have we had lately who have set state 3 point records in HS and were top 80 recruits? Berhow played in a mid major conference similar to the MVC. Nevermind though, I'll just focus on 2 ****ty games.

I’ll say it again and I’ll get ripped for it again.... we should have redshirted AJ better talent coming behind him vs what was already here. I get it he could have picked all these other schools and would have played immediately... news flash he didn’t pick UNI because of our rich history of tradition... maybe his dad sitting beside him factor more into it than literally anything else... it would have put the program first and it would have been smart for the long term.

So, he only would have played two years with Pickford, Berhow and Phyfe?

This is a terrible idea. Thank God it wouldn't even be considered in the real world.

                              Red shirting AJ? Cmon now.

You don't red shirt 4* recruits in the MVC.

Who would be our PG this year?

                              He's averaging like 18 points a game thru 4 games. He's D1 ready.

Keep that red shirt in your back pocket in case there's an injury issue down the line.
Winning is more fun than losing.

Redshirting AJ would set a bad presidence for future recruiting. If we ever have a opportunity to recruit another 4 star, why would he come to UNI if he knew there was a good possibility that he would be redshirted his first year?
Only the power 5 redshirt 4 and 5 star players.
