A wins a win, beats a loss every day. I'm a little concerned that we cut our TOs in half and quadrupled our 3 point percentage and needed every bit of that to squeak out a win against a not very good team. I still think we go back to being defense oriented, that's been the secret to our success since Jake got the job. Does anyone believe we knock off #1 ranked teams, or even ISU for that matter, by playing their style of ball? We were a top 5 defense team nationally and held our opponents in the 50s, which gave us a chance in every game regardless of our lack of offense. Oh well, let's get another one tomorrow.

That's the thing I've been thinking about since media day. Ben Jacobson wanted to play it fast on offense, slow on defense. First two games, we did neither. This game, we were able to play the fast offense, but still didn't slow them down on defense. If the team can actually implement this, they will be dangerous. Of course, I'm pretty sure every team would like to do that. Isaiah Brown will be the key to this, in my opinion. He needs to keep his solid mid-range while being a lockdown defender, able to take the best player for the opponent all but out of the game, like he was able to do a lot last year. Again, easier to say than do, but it'll be a big help in the defense. It'll also be big for Phyfe to learn to play some more efficient, less foul heavy defense.

Won't be able to "get another one tomorrow." Our 5th place game is at 2 pm Monday.

This team has allowed an average of almost 80 points in it’s first 3 games against D-1 teams, all against teams that are not likely to be NCAA tournament caliber (Penn may be an exception.) Regardless, UNI does not have the talent to consistently outscore opponents and anyone that thinks otherwise is delusional.

This program’s success, and more importantly its identity, rests on defense. Defense as an identity also reminds the players they need to try harder than their competitors to win, that they can’t coast. They have to out-hustle their opponents to win. Without that identity, I don’t think UNI can be consistently successful.

It’s nice that they won tonight but they need to go back to their roots to win consistently.

Jake said on his postgame that they have about 40% of the offense in. There are tons of actions and spacing things that they haven't gotten in yet because this is so new. It's basically a hybrid of what we've always done and an offense from European pro leagues that he saw another team run playing against Seth Tuttle.

He sounded as happy as Jake ever sounds after a game. I think we need to let this play out before we decide it's terrible.

Putting in a new offense could be stealing practice time from the defense right now, but I really have trouble believing that Ben Jacobson is going to neglect the defensive side of the court for long.
"My role is to lead, plain and simple. . . .I with the help of my staff and our administration, we will lead." --Ben Jacobson

When does the replay go on Flohoops? I paid the $30 but wasn't able to watch yesterday and will be at work on Monday during the ODU game. The EKU replay is still nowhere to be found on their website. Their site seems to be a rip off up to this point.
