The last time we will likely ever play them due to a severe case of butthurtitis. Make it count, boys.

    6 pm tip, BTN.

It would be very sweet to end this series with a W.

I’m really struggling with the idea of them winning this game, but literally the only other time I didn’t think we had a chance was a few years ago when the Tar Heels came calling. So what do I know? Lol

I would be very surprised if we played as poorly as we have the last 2 games. Its beyond time for us to start playing competant basketball.

However, we match up really poorly with them with our 4-5 guard lineups. We don’t have anybody that can guard any of their bigs, especially Cook who will kill us.

Going to have to hold our own on the glass and shoot the lights out from 3 to have a chance.

Would be a huge disappointment end this series with a whimper and let them off the hook.

First time since UNI went DI that I don't feel we have a fighting chance against an instate rival. So we will probably win.

I learned that the smaller quick lineups dictate the opponents lineup so this should work in our favor on Saturday...
If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

Not sure why, but I'm somewhat confident about this game. One or two calls that don't go Fran's way and he'll forget he has a team to coach and will be worried about the officials the rest of the game. Cook could be a problem, but UNI could start fouling him and make him earn it at the line where he struggles. If Brown is going to be a defensive POY in the MVC, he should be able keep Moss in check or at least make it difficult for him. For UNI, at some point, shots have to start going in.

There is a lot of talk about how important this game is for UNI players since they didn't get recruited by Iowa or get the chance to play basketball at Iowa, but on the other side you have that Baer kid. He couldn't get recruited to play at UNI and was stuck walking on at Iowa so this is probably a pretty big game for an in-state kid like that. I will be curious to see if he can handle his emotions.

Last time we played them we were playing really well and I thought we'd win easily.

This time we haven't played well and I just don't see a way that we win.

I guess that's why you play the game.

I'll be watching the Brown vs Moss thing - two players with skills that just haven't been able to keep it going offensively with any consistency

If we don't hit 50+ pct from the 3, we're going to lose and badly. Sorry, just don't see this team staying close with these guys.

Iowa is one of the top teams in the country at drawing fouls. We have no experience or depth inside. I don't see how McDonnell stays on the floor. If Dahl is allowed to play he will get in foul trouble in a matter of a few minutes. Cook and Garza will score at will. Fran will not call off the dogs and will try to run up the score. We probably lose by 30-40 points.

Both games in Wells Fargo will be massive blowout losses for the Valley. It will dampen for some time any ground swell to see the teams play down the road.

Man I'd love to shoot up at the Iowa players who got on social media and said "Hawkeye State" after they beat Iowa State... but this is going to be tough. We're going to get absolutely murdered inside.

The fact that Iowa and Iowa State won't be playing UNI and Drake anymore really grinds my gears. What a bunch of sissies. But that's the way it is nowadays. Instead of knuckling up and getting better, you just take your ball and go home to play such powerhouses as UMKC, Alabama State, Western Carolina, Savannah State, Bryant, Texas Southern, Omaha, NDSU, Southern and Eastern Illinois. God forbid you play a game you could possibly lose. The deck is so crazily stacked against mid-majors these days it is crazy.

I know attendance would be underwhelming, but I would love to see us pair up with Drake to continue to do doubleheaders at the Well in the future. It is a great chance for DM based alums to see the team.

I don't hate the idea of playing USD and SDSU, two years in DSM, one year in Sioux Falls. Or SDSU and NDSU with a DM/Sioux Falls/DM/Fargo pattern (although I think USD has a better basketball program.....or at least will in general moving forward). Or just bring in random opponents every year and play a doubleheader with Drake at the Well. You could even make it a day-long thing and invite a couple Iowa Conference teams to play games in the morning. Sort of a state of Iowa college basketball showcase with the UNI game as the main event. Maybe you have Upper Iowa play a quality midwestern D2 opponent and invite the defending Iowa Conference champion for a high profile D3 game, then have Drake play someone, then UNI. Or involve Grinnell's crazy offensive show. Or bring in like Grand View or a good NAIA team. Or you could involve the women's teams. Maybe you could get a school with some local alumni involved (Creighton, Nebraska, Minnesota, etc) even if we don't play them every time. Just spitballing.

But, regardless, it would be great if we could continue to play in the Well regularly.

Grinnell is a lot of fun to watch.

I think people would be shocked to see the athletes Indian Hills brings in.

You could have an all day Saturday thing in Wells that would be a basketball junkies holiday.
