  • Carlton Reed

Anyone know how Carlton has looked at practice thus far?

I wonder if he is getting his confidence back that he lost from the good ol' Hawkeyes...He was always such a great player to watch in high school and I always thought he was the better player coming out of East compared to Mike Henderson.

I think next year we should expect big things from him, he will be quicker than any player we have had in awhile

    Thoughts?

To answer your question, I haven't heard about Carlton...I will try to find that out.

    Question to debate:
    Is Carlton quicker than Josten?
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

I have sources in the Iowa department that tell me why he left the program, but that's about it. They say he had tremendous potential at Iowa, but for obvious reasons will not materialize in Iowa City.

It's going to be tough for a team to score on the guards next year. Travis, Kujo, Reed, and Josten give us speed to compete with anyone! Hopefully now that Carlton came to UNI - When Waterloo East comes up with some D1 players we can keep them close by.

someone will have to step up as a leader at the PG spot. Also, losing stout will be tough. we will need a PF/C type player to step in and back up coleman and jordan..

anyone know how Everette has done since Football is over? i remember UNI actually recruited him more than coleman..

I'm hoping with the experience that Kwadzo will be able to take over the reigns next year at PG

While on the subject of Cartlon Reed, who will be the 5 starters next year?

kinda early to be looking ahead to next season already. haven't even gotten into conference play.

who knows which underclassmen (or non-seniors, I should say) will step up this season

                    Why not, I will speculate...

                    Ahelegbe, Josten, Brown, Coleman, Eglseder

I could see Reed sneaking in there if he keeps progressing during this redshirt...He is quick and a VERY good shooter when given a chance. Good height for a wing doesn't hurt either.

I really dont know how he would fare at the PG spot, but i wouldnt mind seeing Josten at the PG spot some. he can handle the ball, is probably our quickest guy with the ball, and should gain some confidence this season..

again, I dont know if it would work, but if they tried it i could see Josten, Reed, Brown, Coleman, and Jordan on the court together.

I think Reed will sneak in the starting lineup at some point. maybe not to start next season, but he will likely be in the starting lineup a lot of next season. and so far josten looks much more comfortable on the court with the ball than ahelegbe (this could obviously change since ahelegbe has only played in 10 games and will gain a ton of confidence by the end of this season) so i wouldnt be surprised to see aghelebe move out of that starting 5 prediction

I think it is also a great sign to see that we are actually debating the future depth of our team. Depth in the backcourt along with a new found quickness at these spots is something to get really excited for next year.

Now, let's just keep it rolling this year!

The kid from Johnston lit it up the other night in front of Coach Jake with 30 points and 20 rebounds against the Little Cyclones of Ames. He could take over for Stout next year.
