We needed this win bad, its gonna come back and haunt us. First time I have see UNI play that bad! Really need to focus and play better next time! Lets knock of creighton, i hate those bastards!

Hey Panther fans,
I know Im new to your board, but I just wanted to say that tonight's game confirmed my already steady/strong feeling that you guys have a damn good basketball team. We were able to dig deep and get a MUCH, MUCH needed win tonight, but you Panthers have nothing to hang your heads about. Your team is really damn good.
This was an EXCELLENT college basketball game. Tough MVC contest (as usual), between the top and bottom MVC teams. Both teams played extremely hard IMHO. This was a physical, emotional, energertic, hardfought Valley battle. Nothing to hang heads about. I said to a few people in my row toward the end of regulation "no matter what, both teams played hard and this was a damn good basketball game." Only after I said that, the game got even better!
Seriously, this game was awesome. I wish this type of game was televised regularly. 2 gutsy teams fighting tooth and nail...thats what our league and college hoops is all about.
For any Panther fans that made the trip, (and please take this sincerely), I hope you enjoyed the town and Redbird Arena, although it was empty like I predicted.
I know some of you were looking forward to going to Avantis so I hope the Gondolas were as good as usual
, and most importantly I hope you had a safe trip here and back. Best of luck the rest of the season (except for when we come to the McLeod on Feb 24th, something that Im not lookin forward to, right before St. Louis.)
Great game by both teams. Hardfought, physical, energetic, emotional basketball. Thats what the Valley is all about!Last edited by Phantom; 01-10-2007, 01:59 AM.

Didn't sound empty on the radio broadcast. I hope UNI fans don't jump off the deep end after this loss. The wheels aren't coming off the season. It's a one-game setback and now the Panthers can come home, defend the home court vs. another co-leader in the Valley and get back to their winning ways. I hope everyone comes out to the McLeod Friday night and gets into the game and creates another tremendous home court advantage (like last Saturday). GO PANTHERS!!!"10% of life is what happens to you, 90% is how you react to what happens."

I know it was empty...but the people there made noise...it really came through on the radio broadcast. Maybe their mic was close to the fans that were there...but there was thunderous cheering when they hit shots down the stretch."10% of life is what happens to you, 90% is how you react to what happens."

Actually the Illinois St radio announcers mentioned that while it was a sad crowd in numbers, it was the loudest of the year. So in a sense, you are all right.Originally posted by panther2317 View PostI know it was empty...but the people there made noise...it really came through on the radio broadcast. As to original post... get over it. This was a tough loss on the road to a team that played probably as good as they could have and we played almost as bad as we could have. We played worse against Loyola, IMO. The season is not over. The only way this game will "haunt" us is if we continue to play like that and lose other, similar games. In which case, I'd argue that we never had a chance at the crown in the first place. I still believe someone will win this league with 5 losses.
The bottom line is... if we could only stay out of playing in the state of Illinois we'd all feel a lot better!!

I noticed the sign in front of Mulligans is encouraging people to "pack the Mac" Good promotion for the cats. We weren't going to win them all, you win some you lose some. I think this will just motivate the guys to go after creighton. Yeah itll hurt the rankings, but who cares, personally id rather not be ranked we usually lose after we get ranked.Oh, and let me make this perfectly clear to you people: you go to UNI, NOT IOWA. The Hawkeyes and their fans do not give a crap if you remain "true to them" or some stupid self-fulfulling bullcrap like that.-OTP
What i say are my opinions and mine alone, and not that of anyone associated with me.

fine, every time we get ranked we lose. Yes its a small sample, but my statement is accurate.Oh, and let me make this perfectly clear to you people: you go to UNI, NOT IOWA. It was ONE loss. There are still 13 conference games, the Bracket Buster and the MVC tournament.
In today's Bracketology, even AFTER last night's loss, Lunardi has moved the Panthers from a #10 seed last week to a #7 seed this week. He has the Panthers playing Boston College in Sacramento. He shows the Illinois State loss as a "bad loss" but has wins over Wichita State, SIU and Bradley as "good wins".
Let's keep an even keel here. Still plenty of time and plenty of games to make our mark.
Even Ohio State got beat last night. Do you think there were any bridge jumpers in Columbus this morning?

ILSU Crowd
Being there the crowd was pathetic in numbers. But they were given reason to make some noise and did. The funny thing is, UNI had more fans there than ILSU did students. Of course they aren't back in school yet.
The no call on the goaltend was as bad as I have seen. But by no means did it cost UNI the game.
Thank goodness for a stop at Big Al's in Peoria to help save the trip.
