And we draw the team who might be the best in the tournament, SMU. Wednesday night at 8 pm.

Something like 30 teams declined. Was the staff prepared for this? Has the team practiced at all? More importantly, are they over the flu?

I would think they've been practicing since Jake said they'd accept an invite to the CIT. Sounds like they had their sights set on playing somewhere.

                  They've been practicing since Tuesday.

It's about the worst possible matchup we could've gotten but we're in and that's all that matters. Any time you hang a year on a banner, it's a good year.

Fourth in the ACC is a scary thought and they were within 3 against Clemson last game. On the plus side, SMU is 0-5 in Q1 wins, 6-5 in Q2....so not an ubeatable team.

There’s a new tournament that will mostly feature Big 10/12/East schools (they are the three power conferences that have TV deals with Fox). I think OK St is the only team from any of those conferences in the NIT.

We've actually done pretty well on the road in the NIT lately; beat St. Joe's in Tuttle's freshmen year back in '12, I remember that. Also roundly thumped St. Louis on the road in AJ's last year back in '22. Nothing to lose.

A lot of P5 schools have turned down postseason entirely. The Crown isn't announcing its bracket until tomorrow. Kinda feels like they're scrambling a bit. Not entirely surprising as P5 schools have turned up their nose at the NIT lately. Since they seem to have limited themselves to P5 conferences, and in particular those 3 Fox conferences, they may have found a significant lack of enthusiasm. Smaller schools get more excited about secondary tournaments.

Also, as it stands, UC-Riverside is in both the CBI and CIT.

Bradley with a 3 seed but Darius Hannah and Zek Montgomery have opted out of playing.
