With AJ's number going up to the rafters, who do you think is next?

I am more a "small HOF" person with these types of things, but I would say Jason Reese, Benny J, & Seth Tuttle might be the only 3 guys I would have up there. You can't tell the story of D1 basketball at UNI without those guys.

I started following closely in the early 2Ks but Tuttle and Benny J were the two I was thinking. Koch is a Larry Bird trophy winner and could make an argument as the “best player on the most historic team” type of thing.

Starts and ends with those 4.

Lots of guys in the 'Hall of Very Good' like Randy Kraayenbrink, Jason Daisy, Adam Koch, Jake Koch and Tytan Anderson but none of them belong in the same class as the 4 you mentioned.

Reese made us a legitimate DI program and he and Eldon are the reason we're in the Valley, Jacobson and Mac brought us back from the abyss and Tuttle was a legitimate AA on a Top 10 team. That's the foundation of what this program is now.

Jason Reese is the logical second entry there. Benny, Seth, Adam are all in that next tier that you find the right time to include.
If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

My understanding is that his jersey is retired but not the number 4.

I like this. I'm a fan of a hall of fame, but not a fan of completely eliminating numbers from being used in the future.

So you can wear number 4 as long as your last name isn't Green.

Seth is a no brainer to me. I wasn't around during the Jason Reese years and was too young to know about the Benny J years, but they both are no brainers from what I know of those teams. I wasn't around during the Jason Daisy years either, but from what I know he has a legit argument right? Could Ali Farokhmanesh get his retired specifically for The Shot? Aside from that, the one other guy I would make an argument for who hasn't been brought up is Wes Washpun for how he led the team in the 15-16 season.

Reese, Tuttle, and Benny J are pretty obvious. Adam Koch is probably the next one from the Jacobson/McDermott era that could be considered, others (Coleman, Morgan, Kwadzo) are more of a reach. Jason Daisy and Randy Blocker from the Miller years. Pre-Miller would be Randy Kraayenbrink and Nick Nurse. Nurse is an interesting one in he is top ten in assists and steals as well as 3-pointers made even though he played a couple seasons before the 3 pointer was implemented. And is football is going to possible consider Kurt Warner when he only started one full season for UNI based on his professional accomplishments, Nurse should be given the same consideration. Going back to the D-2 and College Division days, there are a few, Bill McCoy and Ron Lemons still are in top 10 for scoring and somehow Pete Spoden (our first All-American and Conference MVP) and Jim Jackson each collected 1100 rebounds when no one else in program history has gotten to 1000.

I think you've got to do Warner. He's given back, he's been a big supporter and he did win OPOY his one year starting.

David Johnson is, obviously, going to be the football guy they put in this fall but that list gets pretty long, pretty quick so we'll see how they handle that. Bill Salmon, Mark Farley, Mike Smith, James Jones, Kenny Shedd, Dedric Ward, William Freeney, Andre Allen, Ryan Helming, Brad Meester, Chad Rinehart, Brannon Carter, Karter Schult, Jared Brinkman, Spencer Brown, Trevor Penning. It starts to get too big.

If David Johnson would have had the line that Corey Lewis had he would have averaged 3,000 yards a season.

If you include what they did after UNI, which I do think matters, AJ is our first NBA player, and Bill Smith was an olympic champion, I think the first ones for football are

                            Kurt Warner
                            Bryce Paup
                            Brad Meester
                            David Johnson

Other players had good NFL careers but those four seem to be ahead of the rest.

Agree with that list. That's where you have to start otherwise as BC noted, the list is huge with UNI based accomplishments. As much as I want to see Shed, Ward, Mike Smith guys there, I think you have to start with these four.
