  • Finish Strong....

The RPI isn't what it has been the past couple years, so a strong finish is a must. The way I see it MUST WIN games are Indiana St, Drake, Bradley, and Illinois St. And at least 1 win over Missouri St, Creighton, and Nevada. If RPI matters, all three of those teams are in the top 30, and obviously Nevada in the top 15 in both polls. 5-2 finish would be great, 6-1 would be extremely good. Oh yea, and gotta show up in the conference tourney either way (well MAYBE not if they finish 7-0, but good luck with that). The worst part about the 15-7 record is that 4 of the losses could easily have ben wins. One think is for sure, these guys gotta learn how to win a tight game. Two big situations (Southern Illinois, Wichita State) Stout failed at the line in a big situation at the end of the game.

The game I'm looking at is Missouri State on Saturday. This would be huge because a lot of websites have us dead even with Missouri State, some even claiming that we'll be out and they'll be in because of their win over Wisconsin.

If we could sweep them in the season, the team the selection committee may be saying, "Hmmm, UNI or Mizzou St." that would be huge!

yea the committe would look at just the win of Wisky for MO St. but they also take into consideration the last 10 games on the year and how you progressed or not during the year. They could quite easily look at that wisconsin game and see that Wisky wasn't at its best early in the year..even though they were ranked, etc. etc. I agree it was a good, huge quality win, but trying to look from the committees POV.

Thats why if we can get aon a nice lil run and finish like 8-2, or 7-3 before the MVC Tourney, that will help our case a ton!

The way I see it is we gotta win every game we should, Indiana State, Drake, Bradley, & Illinois State. Losing any of those games is a bad thing because we're going the wrong way right now. Plus we gotta beat MO State and either Creighton or Nevada. I think anything out of the top 3 in the Valley is a sure no for the tourney. On top of all that we have to make it deep into the MVC tourney, probably the semis. I don't the Valley is going to get more than 3 teams in this year, to much beating each other up. I think Creighton and Southern are in unless they lose their remaining games and it's between UNI and MO State for that final spot right now. Wichita State could sneak in if they run the table and go deep into the MVC. Whatever happens we can't go any worse than 5-2, that might not even be enough. Last nights win was a big one, hopefully the momentum carries over.

I am ver excited to make it up from KC for the MO State game this weekend with my dad.

The ESPN announcers yesterday were ripping the pollsters about SIU not being ranked. I believe the comment made was that if they were in any other conference (I believe he meant a so-called major conference), they would have been ranked for weeks now. CU and SIU are probably playing top 25 ball right now.

If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

SIU will be ranked in the top 25 somewhere this week. I'm thinking around 23 or so. The announcers were also talking about how the conference RPI played into things. It was something like a top 4 conference RPI and the leader was either a 1 or 2 seed in the Tourney. The Valley is 5th right now I believe from some graphics during the Duke/FSU game.

CU is playing some good ball, but Drake had them on the ropes because Tolliver was in foul trouble and they really shut down Funk the whole second half, but Hibma Stepped up and hit some big time shots for the Jays. I don't know how you can say BU is playing top 25 ball when Creighton goes in there and just tears them up with at least 5 players in double figures.
Coach Whisenhunt 1/18/09. "There was never any complaints about not being named the starter, all he wanted was an opportunity and he took advantage of it. Kurt is probably one of the greatest individuals you'll ever meet. Kurt worked hard on a lot of things that a lot of times older quarterbacks aren't willing to do. That's a credit to his humility and his competitive drive, and the reason that we are here today in great part is what Kurt Warner has done for us."

That's because I had a temporary loss of sanity. I meant to say SIU. I have no idea where the BU thing came from...
