  • Let's get the Trees

Can't let off the accelerator now. Mission 1 of Take Indiana is successfully completed. Mission 2 is tonight, and critical to our post season success. A victory tonight will be tough, but would be a huge win. Here's hoping for the team that plays smothering D and is sharp offensively for 40 minutes. Let's harvest some trees!

Anyone have any current trends or insight to provide for tonight's battle? I know they've lost a couple as of late. Something about a wounded dog....

They did a good job of getting our posts into foul trouble last time, but at the same time they got into a bunch of trouble foul wise too. Should be a good night for our inside game. I am predicting a break out night from Jordan Eglseder, I am going to say he gets 10 and 6 tonight...

If we are crisp defensively we can really pressure their young guards.

We still have a chance to finish in the top 3 in the league, if that is going to happen, this one is a must...

With ISU in the midst of a 7 game losing streak, the Panthers should be able to roll in this one. However, in recent years they have struggled in Terra Haute so a win is not a given. Lose this one and they can kiss any hope of an at large good-bye. I expect a similar game to the Evansville game, lead most of the way but not able to pull away for the blow out. Probably an 8-10 point win for the Panthers.

Well just keep this in the back of your mind, ISU shot a Horrid 23% from the floor on saturday. I look for it to be much like the Drake game, I have a bad feeling about this game. UNI needs to just weather the storm and keep working it down low. Against Drake we were throwing up way too many threes. Keep it down low and stay with them, I look for ISU to come out firing and have the panthers down, but UNI comes back and wins a close game!

Keep the bench rotation going in the second half and the Panthers will win this one on free throws down the stretch. Let's go cats!
If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

Really need this win, but do not be sucked in by Coach Waltman's comments in the paper...I am certain ISU will come out wound up after being thoroughly embarassed by the Bears. And, the last games there have been battles.

I do not expect to steamroll Indy State.

This is the Dagger in the heart, No chance, we are terrible! Why in the hell are you shooting 22 threes when you have the best DUO in the league down low? Man i tell you this is a terrible loss, the only chance is to win the league crown in arch madness. We aint' getting in even if we win out! No chance in hell, with three of our losses to Ill ST, Drake, and ISU! Terrible

                    PantherHawk-

FWIW, ISU doubled the post every time. Even Gary said on the broadcast, they had no opportunity to shoot. They could pass, but my guess is they couldn't swing it fast enough to get it down low on the other side. I do remember 1 time when Stout passed it to Coleman on the post when he was doubled...and UNI got a dunk, but the way it sounded, there wasn't a whole lot of opportunities to swing to the other side quick enough. I'm not disagreeing with your stat about 22 threes is too many, but, this is what Gary said on the broadcast.
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

I don't know though. We've got Stout and Coleman down low. If we are going to claim that they're the best frontcourt in the conference, you'd think we could figure out a way around a double team from Indiana State's far less superior post players.

Double team or not, I stand by the fact that our post players are far superior to any of the other post players in the conference. If they're getting double teamed, it's a fact of basketball, someone else has to be open. Once the double team is released, kick it right back down low. Swing the ball around, something!

You can't tell me that UNI is the first team to face the ferocious double team from ISU's posts. We're better than that and should've found a way around it.
