  • ESPN gives UNI props

Coleman is listed as a Freshman to Watch. UNI doesn't get any votes for the AP poll, and Iowa is up to #17. Creighton and SIU both get snubbed as well.
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

    Also heard this --

During the Jacksonville game last night, they had a mic on Brad Meester during the game... and I guess the TV announcers went on and on about UNI and all the players and coaches that have been associated with it. I heard they were very very complimentary.
"...the Northern Iowa men's basketball team reached the ultimate highs before hitting a devastating low. Unexpected success, followed by unimaginable failure. And they owned it -- all of it -- for the world to see. Like men. Like leaders. Like champions -- in a way no tournament bracket could ever define."

      Also...

ON ESPN Radio last night, they were interviewing Wayne Morgan after their upset over #19 Virginia and Wayne had very nice things to say about UNI.

Doug Gotlieb said, "How do you get your guys up for this game after getting pasted at Northern Iowa last week?"

That sentence will always...ALWAYS make me smile!

Heard today at tonight's game that ISU had also been calling Iowa to try and get them to agree to stop playing us and Drake as well... so I'm surprised Morgan was so complimentary.

Those aren't rumors. That's truth! I'm not an Iowa or ISU fan, but Iowa's athletic dept. shows UNI more respect than ISU's, in my opinion. But thanks Clones for the last 2 football paydays!

I heard the same thing but you didn't give the complete rumor. Iowa wanted to wait until after the game last night to make sure they could beat UNI before giving ISU their answer.

I heard at the ISU vs UNI game that Coleman and Crawford really liked red better than purple and were going to transfer to ISU next year.

See that's the beauty of the rumor you can make up whatever you want. And when you don't even bother to give a source you can really stretch things.

              Okay Cy --

Here's the source... heard it face to face and directly from the mouth of an Iowa assistant basketball coach as myself and two others were talking to him after the game. And no, the complete "rumor" isn't that they wanted to wait until after the game to give a response... as much as I dislike Iowa, its athletic department is a little smarter than to buy into all that. Now, since we know him on a personal level, I think I trust him over you. There, is that good enough "proof" for you??????

                It's up to 10%

The fact that you gave a source does take it from 0% believability to maybe 10% in my book. I am impressed you gave a real source.

In the end it’s an anonymous poster on the internet claiming that an Iowa assistant talked to him after the game. The Iowa assistant is saying that ISU did something which makes ISU look bad so even if he made the statement in public I’d say it’s 50% believable.

I'd say based on Morgan's comments before the UNI vs. ISU game it's possible. But, who knows in what context it was done in.

With both Iowa and UNI in eastern Iowa I think Iowa knows they have overlap of the fan base and it would be more difficult for them to stop playing UNI than it would be for ISU.

I don't want to see the series end. But I do think the schedule should be re-done such that UNI-ISU-Iowa all play one home and one road game. Right now UNI is setup to play a home/away each season. But ISU and Iowa will either play both on the road or both at home. It makes it much easier for either ISU or Iowa to win the series.

Never? I wouldn't go that far. The majority of their fan base is quality. It's not the fans that I have problems with, it's more along the lines of the admin and coach. But never? That's a little harsh isn't it?

Why does Morgan and the ISU administration get ripped on so bad? What have they done as bad or worse than Alford defending PP and the administration allowing Alford to put PP back on the team with no actual punishment?

                            Cyinames-

That wasn't a rip on ISU as a whole. I don't care for BVD and Morgan, based on the comments recently regarding the scheduling of UNI (or possible lack thereof) and Morgan's behavior during the UNI/ISU game. Outside of that, I have no problems with ISU. I honestly don't care about either Iowa or ISU outside of playing UNI. If it wasn't for helping UNI's RPI, I wouldn't want either team to do well, but since it makes UNI look good, I hope they both succeed. What Iowa did with PP, I don't like, but it's way in the past, and recently there hasn't been anything done to UNI by Iowa that has made me have more problems with them than outside of just not liking them b/c they are the Hawks.

                              Cy --

I can't stand Pierce. I'm not a fan of Alford. The fact that Pierce gets to set foot on a basketball floor makes me sick to my stomach. I've always supported ISU when the clones aren't playing UNI... I'm not dissing all of ISU. I'm upset with the way Morgan and some of his players have shown absolute disrespect towards UNI for absolutely no reason. For the most part, I've always enjoyed the Cyclone fans. But lately, I've seen a change -- I think a lot of people have. The UNI/Iowa game was a well fought basketball game, and anyone watching could see the amount of respect that BOTH schools have for EACH other. There was no trash talking, there was no unnecessary shoving (except for Pierce shoving Little, and I've already admitted to despising Pierce). It was refreshing after watching the type of game your players tried to bring to the UNI-Dome Dec. 1st. I wish the good people of Iowa State the best of luck... as for Morgan and his thugs... I'll be much happier when they're no longer a part of basketball in the state of Iowa.
