  • McDermott salary increase?

I have heard tidbits on the radio about Coach Mac's salary being increased starting in January. Can anyone confirm this, and what are the totals? Thanks!
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice, clouds and thick darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. Fire goes before Him, and consumes his foes on every side; His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles; the mountains melt like wax before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim His righteousness and all peoples will see His glory.

With the kind of coaching McDermott has been doing UNI had better find a pile of money somewhere, because some other school will.

An increase of 30,000 starting for the new year... hopefully working its way up to 250,000 is what i've heard
"...the Northern Iowa men's basketball team reached the ultimate highs before hitting a devastating low. Unexpected success, followed by unimaginable failure. And they owned it -- all of it -- for the world to see. Like men. Like leaders. Like champions -- in a way no tournament bracket could ever define."

Are there any buyout clauses? I hope it never happens, but it could be a good way for the university to make some cash come a big time team wooing Mac away from us (which I don't see happening, but am not naiive to it completely transpiring)? I know WKU had in the buyout claus, for Coach Felton, that the amount of money left on the contract had to be paid by the "major" school, plus a home game against that "major" school was to take place in 1-2 years. Western Kentucky just beat Georgia b/c of that buyout claus!

When teams do well at smaller schools everyone assumes it's the coaching and the players get little credit. I think McDermott will get job offers after this season if UNI keeps things up. I don't know anything about him to say if he would go or not.

Is what you heard different then the article that was in the Courier last week??

I haven't heard of any buyout clauses, but it sounds like the "inner circle" is starting to come through with some pledges of support. They are looking for supporters to contribute $6,000 a year for 5 years......how bout it Panther Nation?

Mr. Hartzell is asking businesses and wealthy individuals to pledge a certain amount of money annually to keep Coach Mac at UNI. I'm not a fan of Hartzell, but I am a fan of Mac, and assistants Smith and Jacobson, and I definitely agree with this concept. These guys should get some class treatment.

Yea I saw that article too -- but I just read a different one yesterday. It wasn't in the Courier... can't remember if it was in the Gazette or the Des Moines Register...
