  • UNI not projected as a Tourny team next year

They have a brackatology out for next year already. They project 2 valley teams, neither are UNI. I think UNI could be a very big sleeper next year though! Even though we lose brooks and stout, we will be strong next year. we have good presense down low and we will be SUPER athletic and quick on the perimiter with all the added quickness and athletes.. not to mention we have our shooters coming back as well.

i think we will make the tourny this next year, personally

based on what was witnessed this year in the guard court & now the loss of stout, other than some coaching/player defections on other teams what would lead you to believe we have the talent level in the program to get us back?

Adam Koch- spending time in the weight room and beefing up for his sophomore year a la Grant Stout.

Big Jordan getting his footwork down over the summer and becoming a quality big man on O and on D.

The new players- Montgomerry, Culliver and O-Rear bring much needed athleticism. Any one of them could be a possible recruiter.

Kwadzo- gets an international level tournament to learn the offense. Not as smart as Brooks but more athletic.

Kerwin Dunham- A tall guard could be huge off the bench

Carleton Reed- The shot creator we sorely needed. Rumor is he has improved vastly.

          ERIC COLEMAN- is BACK

JJ and Travis Brown and Adam Viet are more experienced and should be better as well.

Thats what leads me to believe.

I'm an eternal optimist and can you remind me of who is coming back in the league that we should be scared of? Creighton loses Tolliver and Funk, SIU lost Falker, Tatum and Young, Missouri State lost Blake Ahearn, Bilyeau and Tyler Chaney, WSU lost Kyle Wilson and Ryan Martin, Bradley lost Will Franklin, Danny Adams, Zach Andrews and the catalyst JJ Tuai.

What I'm trying to say is that the Valley was a senior dominated league this season. There's a lot of transition both on the court and on the bench in this league and that, coupled with the returning and new talent that WE have in Cedar Falls that shows me it can be a special season next year.

So out with the negativity and let's have a fun and productive summer, enjoy the overseas international tournament and have a great 2007-2008 season. GO PANTHERS!!!

              Wasnt Falker a junior?

Dont forget Creighton lost Porter too!

PTTB can correct me...I could be wrong on Falker...it just seems like he's been there for 4 years or more.

Falker will be a senior next year. Yes it seems like he has been there forever...
If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

Anyone that honestly feels we were snubbed in this bracketology needs to back off the purple and gold kool-aid. There is not one bit of a reason for any media member nationally to think we'll be in. In fact, this team has a lot to prove to its own fandom before the majority here think they'll be a tourney team. It may very well happen, and I won't be surprised if they do, but I'd barely put them on the radar if I did a bracketology at this point.

Oh, by the way... it's April.

did someone say we "got snubbed"? I never heard anyone say anything of that nature... we just mentioned we were left off the bracketology and think it will be fun to prove them wrong. i totally understand why we arent on their radars, i just think they are wrong and we will have to prove ourselves. dont put words in people's mouths

mont., cull., kwadzo, reed... we have NEVER had a backcourt with that athleticism bofore.. not to mention we didnt lose our outside shooters so we will only get better there as well, with the adition of the above mentioned and kerwin, viet, josten, and brown...

we will have one of the quickest teams in the league, which will be very weird, and pretty solid down low with coleman, jordan, koch, and o'rear. i just see us being able to really play many different ways next year which will help us match up with just about anyone.. of course our young guys will have to continue to mature and learn the system, but it should be exciting!

we lose some leadership, but gain a TON of athleticism and quickness on the perimiter (Reed, Montgomerry, Culliver, Kwadzo, Brown), as well as gaining better perimiter shooting (Kerwin, Viet, Brown, Josten, Reed, and who knows about Culliver and Montgomerry). With our added quickness we will be able to penetrate MUCH better and dish to bigs or open shooters much better. Not to mention our bigs arent horrible either (coleman, jordan, koch, and o'rear).

If our young guys continue to develope, this team looks to be pretty dang deep, especially compared to some other Valley schools who lost a lot this off season!

Yeah...I could care less about what someone in the media thinks of our program in April. That's why I said, "screw 'em". They can't guess potential. I think we've got a great upside next season.

For the record, I never said we got snubbed, and I dont think anyone else did either.

But I do think we can get to the big dance next year.
