    "The country's best

The Panthers rank first in the nation in field goal percentage. UNI, which has shot better than 50 percent in eight of its nine games, is hitting 53.7 percent of shots. That's a point better than Illinois, and 5 percent better than anyone else in the MVC.

UNI, which is averaging a league-best 81.4 points per game, hasn't averaged more than 80 points a contest since 1988-89 when it averaged 85.1 points a game under Eldon Miller. The Panthers have averaged 80 or more points in a season only three times since 1950.

    Near the bottom

Despite a 9 percent boost in attendance through five home contests, UNI still ranks ninth in the conference in average attendance per home game. Creighton and Wichita State pace the league at 10,466 and 10,189 fans, respectively. Meanwhile, UNI is averaging 4,419 spectators per home game, while Indiana State is last at 4,010."

Sometimes the Cedar Valley and the Students here at UNI make me want to throw myself off a building.
"I told my team that we just played a very athletic team (ISU), but we're going to play a much better basketball team (in UNI).'' Wagner coach Mike Deane.
