Bill Dotson passed earlier this summer. A two-time All-American, Dotson was the only UNI wrestler to win both the D-II and D-I national championship, when he won both in 1963, the first year of a D-II division (UNI was then State College of Iowa). In 1962, he was D-I national runner up. His collegiate record was 78-2-4.
Dotson was a Waterloo East graduate and coached as an assistant at Cedar Falls before heading programs at Charles City, Waterloo East and Dubuque. He later coached as an assistant at Western State (Colorado) and then was head coach at Northern Michigan and New Mexico.
