  • Center Grove Event

I just wanted to take a moment and applaud the UNI Alumni Association for putting together a great day at the Center Grove Apple Orchard in Cambridge this past weekend. It was a great day and a lot of fun for my kids. It also had an awesome tent set up with a ton of great swag. It was probably the best swag tent I've seen for us. Thanks!

They did a great job putting that together again. Was awesome seeing all the purple in attendance.
If computers ruled college basketball the way they do football, we'd have skipped all this March Madness monotony and just waited a month for the Kansas-Kentucky title game. And watched Northern Iowa play Cornell in the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. ~ Dwight Perry The Seattle Times

It is a fantastic event! If you haven’t attended and are within a quick trip, I’d encourage you doing so next fall.

This event was actually the idea/dream of a few Central Iowa Alumni Club leaders. After having several hundred the first year, it’s quickly grown to one of the largest Alumni Association events annually, anywhere. Last year, it was said it was the largest event away from campus since the Sweet 16! It’s grown so large so quick that staff comes down to assist as the volunteers just aren’t enough.

if you live around the Des Moines area, please like the UNI Central Iowa Alumni Club on Facebook. The volunteers work hard to put on events every 1-2 months (mostly sports related) There are several other clubs to check out as well.

I'm not on Facebook, but I am absolutely willing to help out the club here in central Iowa. I have voiced with the PSC, too, that central Iowa gets neglected a bit, but there are a ton of former Panthers in the Des Moines area. I love heading back to the Cedar Valley, but it's just not that feasible right now, and I want to contribute as much as I can.

          Bump… mark your calendars.

The 2024 version of the Panthers at the Orchard is scheduled for Sunday, October 6th. Anyone with kids, this is a can’t miss event. It’s a fun day at the orchard, a very discounted price, a “few” special guests and some free UNI-garb.

Thank you so much for sharing this!! My 6 year old daughter will love it, and I think we're actually going to be able to go that day.
"...the Northern Iowa men's basketball team reached the ultimate highs before hitting a devastating low. Unexpected success, followed by unimaginable failure. And they owned it -- all of it -- for the world to see. Like men. Like leaders. Like champions -- in a way no tournament bracket could ever define."
