while in-game i was critical of benards punts...i must admit, i wasnt there, im not the kicker and the conditions sounded awful...or maybe it was just the isu punter is that much better...50.2ish avg....wow.

Kyle is a pretty solid punter though. He had a bad game, no doubt, but I don't think that was an indicator of the year to come. First game jitters?

There shouldn't be first game jitters for a 3rd year starter, I think it might be the case of lack of competition since Krusey transferred out.

Watched him warming up before the game and before the 2nd half and he was actually hitting them well. Nice and high and deep. Then in the game it looked like he was kicking a 20 pound ball. Maybe just a bad game, but I definitely think he has the talent and ability to boom them.

I thought the low grade should go to the defensive strategy on the last drive. We control them all night & then switch to three down line man. Just seems wrong! I would love to hear the reasoning behind it.

I'm not sure me and you were watching the same punter. I even made a comment to my girlfriend that he looked really bad. And it turned out to be true during the game.

I thought Rennie was the best offensive player in the game on either team.

Honestly ISU's punter might be the best in the history of the program. He really kept us in the game.

Is Kirby really that good? I never get to see him punt anymore but considering he only started for 1 year in high school has always led me to take his hype with a grain of salt. Now it's been 3 years since watching him punt in high school, so obviously that's plenty of time to work with college level coaches and fix his flaws...but the best in school history?

Given ISU's history of less-than-effective offenses, you'd think there would be a decent list of very experienced and talented punters in that programs history

Bernard may have been punting into the wind, and I won't discount that as something that could have altered his kicks....but the punts I saw (which thanks to stretch was only the second half) it wouldn't have mattered what the wind was like, they weren't good trajectory, good spin, or good anything.

I know he can boot the ball as he has shown he is very capable of it. However, there is no consistency with him.

I heard that Ben Boothby was originally going to be the punter but he coaching staff felt that it was unfair because the ball always seem to get buried 3 feet deep at the 1 yard line.

budget concerns. having to replace the football each time, and repair the turf and floor, just too costly

Didn't our first punt hit and bounce backwards like 10 yards? Doesn't help the average. Most of the punts were okay, but compared to what ISU was doing with their punts it made it look worse than it was.

Just watched the replay. Overall I was pretty happy with the team's performance. In particular, I was thrilled to see the development of Rennie. He seemed to be a man in control and his skill set has improved. He made some good passes, placed some great heat at times, and had a couple silly decisions as well. But great job overall.

I only have three complaints:
*Dropped Passes. There were about 10 I counted; 5 of which were "gotta catch those" type passes which were well placed but dropped by the receiver. (Carlos was the largest offender, with 3 strikes...)

*4th and long conversion for a TD. There is no way that play should have ever happened. We gotta make that extra effort-- those ones kill us. That said, the play was fantastic if you are an ISU fan. That is the type they need to make in Big 12 play when the game is on the line.

*Timeout Management. I'm not upset about the timeout taken at the end to let the defense regroup. However, at that moment in time it was a great contrast. UNI had 0 TO's left, and ISU had all 3. That's what winning teams do each game.

He is something like 6th in the Nation for average yards.
